Alex Galchenyuk is a perfect comparison IMO.

Both missed an entire season early in their career, both struggled with the Center position and offensive output early in their career, and both had a sophomore NHL season that was disappointing compared to their rookie season.

Montreal was patient and it has paid off for them, the Flames need to do the same thing now and be patient with Bennett. Drouin is another example of a kid who looked lost, and he turned it around within the same season last year.

Kid could easily put up 20 points in the final 33 games of the season and actually finish with better totals than last season still.

Bennetts play this year is disappointing to be sure but trading him now would be foolish. He's still got huge upside, more so than any other player on our team imo. Gotta stick with it. If it doesn't work out then so be it but they've got to try.

I reiterate what I previously said; hopefully in 5 years time I'll be wrong, but I just don't see that finish in his game.
Really? I posted more than what you quoted above. I asserted that you hadn't watched much last year, because he was significantly better last year - not "merely because my opinion is different than yours". Did you stop reading? You could have replied by saying that you did watch the games AND why you felt he wasn't much better even last season, he was inconsistent, he padded his stats through a few streaks, or something relevant.

That's fairly typical of rookies and players who score 15-20 goals. They tend to get a chunk in a short amount of time. If they were more consistent they'd have more.

Matthew Tkachuk's hottest month was November with five goals. He had one goal in October, one goal in December and two goals in January.

Has it been tough to get a read on his goal scoring?

It's funny/odd you've never mentioned this insight before. Only now when he's playing poorly do you posit the idea Bennett is a mix of Bouma/Stajan. I'll say that's bonkers but okay.

Maybe the BS factors into why he sat instead of Gaudreau
