What? Well yeah that was pretty much the point.

We are happy they didn't win...except you. And now your argument is that they didn't win, creating a weird circular argument. Also season is only half over, the Predators have stayed in the playoff hunt despite some major injuries. If they get healthy, they are a threat. They wouldn't have needed to win 3 in a row, season is 82 games long...

Yeah, that does look weird and circular. I think my point in the original post was that I had hoped Nashville to win THIS game operating on the very reasonable expectation that they will not win all three of their games in hand. In the end, it doesn't really matter, since the Canucks are hard pressed to stay ahead of Nashville in the long run.
Is Nashville a threat to the Flames' playoff seeding? Only if we do not see the Flames continue to plot their own destiny. When it gets down to it, so long as the Flames keep pushing for one of those three division spots, we do not need to concern ourselves with whatever the Predators do. I still don't see the Oilers finishing the season ahead of the Flames, and as a result, I am not overly concerned about how Nashville performs. Of course that could change. At that point I guess I will start to worry.

Let me say for the record that Nashville is most definitely a threat to the Flames playoff hopes. In fact they are THE BIGGEST threat of any team that does not currently hold a spot.
Thanks Hawks.
Nashville passing the Canucks or not passing the Canucks has no baring on the Flames chances. Nashville winning has a huge baring on the Flames chances. Vancouver does not currently sit in a playoff spot.
Like others have said, ideally the Flames pass a few more teams, like the Oilers and the Blues in the next few days, and Nashvilles performance matters less and less.
If I am correct, this is the first time this season that the Flames can say they would be in the playoffs if every team trailing won every game in hand. This is a feat. Still lots of work to do. Here's looking at you Edmonton.

Nice to see the Oilers' ridiculous puck luck finally run out. Their next game is against the Sharks, and I don't see them winning that one either. This would be the perfect week for the Flames to finally pass these jerks in the standings.

You guys saw the Canucks first hand. Just cause they went on a quick 6 game run and got themselves close doesn't mean they are the biggest contender. They were winning on the backs of Sven and Granlund (and Horvat). That isn't going to last, knowing how streaky those guys are. Aside from the first two periods of saturday that team looks terrible.
Nashville has more weapons and is more legit. Isn't PK still out with injury? We need to get as much space between them and us now cause I fully expect them to go on an extended run at some point. And if they don't, then both WC teams can consider themselves very fortunate.
Also worth mentioning the crazy run Dallas had the spring that the Flames made the playoffs. They were playing near .800 hockey. Two sleeping giants if you will. But I have less faith in Dallas given how their goaltending and team defence has looked this season.

It's just not a complete Sportsnet highlight package without a McDavid montage, is it? Jesus, do they hang on every little thing he does.

In the 3rd, the Preds kept coming, and tied it, when a Fisher shot trickled behind Crawford, and Watson poked it the last 4 inches. Then luck frowned at Nashville. Three shots beat Crawford cleanly, but, rang two posts and a crossbar. Then Ryan Hartman got the most unnatural natural hat-trick one would ever see. The GWG bounced in off of his pants as he drove the net on a goal mouth scramble. Then, with Rinne pulled, Hartman made a poke check in the neutral zone, and the puck rolled all the way into the net, slowly, from the center red line. Then, with Rinne still on the bench, Q tossed the kid out there to try for the hat-trick, and he did get his 3rd with a chip in from center ice.
It was a 5-2 final, but, that score is deceiving, this game could have easily gone the other way.
Also, wouldn't be surprised to see Fisher get some IR time, He took a Kempny slap shot to the foot, and was clearly in pain the rest of the game, although, he did gut out shift after shift.

I thought it was a very interesting game. I watched the Preds broadcast and was surprised to find Stu Grimson as analyst. The Grim Reaper was much better than I expected.

Rick...Reaper is still a work in progress, last season, he wasn't very smooth in his delivery, but, he IS improving. Of course, I have some affection for the guy, as an ex-'Hawk (although he is also about an ex-every other team too!). I don't mind watching opponent feeds on Center Ice, as long as they aren't blatant homers, and I always liked Weber/Crisp, now semi-retired, on the Preds' feed...the new guy and Reaper are OK.

A montage for a guy who hasn't scored a goal in his last 4 games? Ok, sure.
