I'd like to see a comparison between Nylander and Laine. But Laine definitely has better linemates than Nylander.

I posted stats a week ago ion here where Laine was dead last amongst rookies in every advanced stats category. Matthews was #1. Nylander was easily ahead. I have not updated since though.

All I know is I am extremely happy I went with my gut and took Laine in the 8th round of 10 in my pool. The kid has been Gold!

Lawless clearly trolling Leafs fans here. Sure let's make the call one player will be better than the other less than 30 games into their careers. Terrible journalism.

Gary Lawless was a Jets homer before the Jets even returned, so there's no surprise here. His publishers must have loved this one though because it will generate a lot of clicks from angry Toronto fans.
Also, 30 games into their careers, people were legitimately talking about Dion Phaneuf being the favourite for the Calder Trophy, ahead of Crosby and Ovechkin. Didn't take long for that to settle out.

Although it is the Oilers we're talking about.
The Flames took a better player in the 4th round than the Oilers took first overall in both 2011 and 2012.

He might not be.
You've got Brady, Montana, Young, Manning ahead of him for sure and that's just modern era. He's #5 at best IMO. Not winning a superbowl definitely hurts his cause.

This is Gary Lawless. He's a Winnipeg homer, I'm not sure what you expect? TSN does need SOME west coast reporters, even if their screen time is limited.

And there it is, this again. Only thing you haven't mentioned yet in this thread is how much of a steal the Kadri contract is.

I fail to understand the annoyance with lawless over him providing his opinion.
from what I have seen so far, lainne has been a beast, while Matthews has been good; however, the leafs are hardly ever on TV, so we have only had limited viewings thus far.

The claim is more that they only really care about the Leafs because it's the biggest market. This is actually further evidence of that, because it's specifically designed to get attention from that market (people are more likely to click on an article whose title pisses them off than one they agree with).
Anyway, Laine's sh% is high, but it's actually pretty reasonable to assume that some of that is actual talent. Dude basically has Kovalchuk's release. He's gonna score a lot of goals. That doesn't mean he'll be the better player though, of course. Return to this after five years.

This is just pure click-bait designed to get a big response out of two passionate fan bases. Seems to have worked.

Of so that article proves they love the Leafs and are homers. Gotcha.
The point is they are very negative about the Leafs. I agree with your overall point, but people don't get that giving them more attention does not mean it's because they are big homers.

Pretty much... The guy realllly went out there on a wild prediction that a number 2 or 3 in a draft may have a better career than the number one. Super risky on his part.
You can do that for just about any draft year outside of Crosby's and Bobby Ryan is pretty good.

A buddy in my keeper league held the 2nd overall pick and the guy owning the 1st overall came looking to snag the 2nd as well.
My friends tells him, "I will trade you the 2nd overall pick for your 1st overall+"
He's been high on Laine before he had his meteoric rise last year. Personally, I do think he will end up the better player, as great as Matthews has looked. A guy who can score like that comes along once in a blue moon.

Your reading comprehension is extremely low then. This is what Corsi said:
"The claim is more that they only really care about the Leafs because it's the biggest market."
This is what you saw:
"they love the Leafs and are homers"
