With that said, Scheifele's development over the last 2 years has seemed to me to be more promising than what I've seen from Monahan. At least, it's been more linear. Monahan has double the GWG (16 to 8) and double the OT goals (6 to 3), so there's that. Also a full 6% better in the faceoff dot. That is 3 things without even looking very hard.

I mean in the sense that, I don't think Monahan is a better shooter, passer, or skater than Scheifele. I don't think he's better defensively.

I'll give you faceoff %, but I don't think that's as important a stat as some others do.

Laine vs. Matthews could be fun too watch. Thing is I didn't even notice Laine in the first two periods but in the 3rd and overtime he was everywhere.

That call on Reilly with less than a minute to go was garbage, but what can you do.

I expect this is going to be the Leafs season...with so many rookies there are going to be a lot of blown games.

Nylander and Kadri looked great though!
