Kiprusoff should be retired and is probably more deserving of it than Vernon was. Not hating on Vernon but I feel Vernon only got retired because he is a born and raised Calgarian. Only thing Kipper didn't get is the cup, that's about all Vernon has on him.

Vernon got retired because he was one of the best goaltenders of his era. It's honestly ridiculous that he isn't in the Hall of Fame.

Along with minnows like Inter and AC Milan.

Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself. You were wrong, it happens to everyone.

I would actually like a two tiered honor system. Forever a Flame to recognize some great players, retirement of jersey's only for rare face of Franchise type players (so Iggy next).

If a jersey is hung in the rafters it should be retired.

If they want to keep the Forever A Flame it should be an area somewhere in the dome where they can have plaques for the players or something along those lines.

Retiring the number seems silly to me; the jersey in the rafters with the player's name on it is more than enough of a show of appreciation. If another #9 skated for us would there be any confusion as to who came before him? And if our new #9 gets retired, why not have 2 #9s in the rafters? The only exception should be that a player can't wear the number if he has the same last name.

And he played in two eras really. Played in the high scoring era and low scoring era and did pretty good in both.

I think Kipper might be the best player the flames have ever had at any position. The only other one that comes close is #2.

Call me Old School, but I'm glad Johnny Bower and George Armstrong had their numbers retired and lived to see it. Both tireless ambassadors for the team. Both before my time. The Leafs have always been over-hyped in the modern era, but those two paid their dues.
