Joe Colborne is the next Glencross. Am I doing this right?

Sort of, but you maybe should have gone with something more likely to spark response, such as:
In the end, the Flames were the big winners in the Phaneuf trade.

Current Flames, I can see Bouma being one of the players who will fall out of the NHL due to contract demands.

I would add in Josh Jorris as a possible candidate to drop out of the NHL if he has a bad year with the NYR.

I don't think Glencross, Hudler and Russell are that similar except for the common factor that Treliving is a wizard. Russell and Hudler will both get contracts.

Put in a poll. It would be 90% Wideman.

This is sort of the opposite of what you're asking, but I think now the new NHL is passing him by and he'll never get a chance at a cup. I feel if he'd signed with better teams for 1 year each he'd have better stats which would allow him to play longer. Instead, he's floundering in a broken system in Colorado, and this coming year may be his last. I bet that if he was able to sign a 1 year deal with Chicago on July 1 this year for limited money, he'd have great success and his stats would skyrocket. He might even have gotten another contract for '17-'18. Instead, he'll get 30 points on a bad Avalanche team.

Hes done that with Boston and pitts. He chose Colorado for his family. He wanted long term with just one team for his family to saddle down. Family first

I think he will at least have a contract, if not the money he was expecting.

Getting back to the premise, which if I understand it would be a player who is a pending UFA, figures he's worth more than the team is offering, gets traded for a good return, doesn't pan out and then lingers on the UFA market or doesn't even get a contract, there's only a few possibilities: the goalies, Wideman, Smid, Engelland and Bollig.
Of those, who is going to be looking for a raise? Not Wideman or Smid. I suppose if Engelland or Bollig improve they might get an inflated sense of self-worth and the Russell scenario could happen. That would be win-win for the Flames because I don't really think the Flames need either player and could use a Treliving/wizard return. I guess I could see Johnson playing well, wanting a longer term and not getting it because of Gillies.
