I love the CHL.

If only because my Swedish team won it one year.

It's Shanghai dude. Not Mogadishu.

There is a tonne of money in that city. It's like the Chinese New York.

The impression I get is that the draw of hockey in England is the common-man ethos, the close relationship teams have with the fans, and the rough stuff. Can't see a KHL team offering any of that.

The KHL is looking a lot like the modern ABA. Put a team anywhere someone wants one, irregardless of nonsensical geographical alignment.

Yes, yes, but what about the pseudo-sanctioned Monkey Knife fights?

The best part of the merger was The Spirits of St. Louis. NBA paid them a ton of money for never playing a game.

It's already surpassed by a few of the KHL arenas...

@jhiitela: I think the lowest number this year for Kunlun Red Star is 520. They're temporarily playing in Shanghai, population 25 MILLION.
I think the Lacombe Generals get better numbers.

Compared to Shanghai, Calgary is insignificant.

Unless you only like white people Calgary has nothing on Shanghai. Maybe air quality, but when I was there I had zero issues.

For geeks like me, their version of Memory Express is bigger than Scotia Centre.

Good beer is cheaper than pop and the food is cheap and amazing. Yang's Dumplings FTW.

And their metro moves 18 million people wit less congestion than the LRT.

Sorry for the tangent, but I find myself compelled to chime in whenever Shanghai is mentioned.

(also: you can fly there for ~$600 inclusive from Calgary - hotels, transport and food are cheap)

Intimating people who don't think like you must be racist is an interesting strategy.
