The Only one I'm disappointed about is Arnold because I really thought he could be a good depth option and has some hidden potential but due to injury and other team depth kind of put him on the edge.

what would colborne or ortio's qualifying offer been??
$1,275,000 for Colborne.
I like it. Colborne's stats are severely over inflated. He's not by any means useless, but he's not anywhere near your 'typical' 50 point producer. No need to risk arbitration with him. He has to see that Calgary gives him the best opportunity and should re-sign, if he doesn't, meh not a huge loss.

Not qualifying Colborne isn't because they believe he's not worth the $1.275M but because arbitration could cause a problem if he gets awarded something excessive like $3.5M and we can't walk away from it.
I'm thinking we'll still see Colborne sign, if even just for 1 year, in the $2.5-$3M range.

Colborne has to be signed just even from an asset mgmt point of view - I really hope that they are close but I'm wondering why the contracts are taking so long with him, Gaudreau and Monahan, getting so close to free agency, high stakes game to lose Colborne for nothing or have Monahan get an offer sheet.
The rest are a bit surprising but not that crazy. Agostino is a bit of a shocker to me, especially if Colborne could walk and a LW spot opens up. Jooris, obviously you want him back but not over a million, he is a good player but replaceable at a lower cost if he won't take a cheaper deal. Also a bit surprised they gave up on Arnold, but pretty damning on how he's played down there, Huska has had a good long look.
Perhaps the Flames have found a back-up through the FA negotiating window and felt comfortable negotiating a two way deal with Ortio hence the non-qualifying offer. Wouldn't shock me to see July 1st see a Hutton/Montoya signing and Ortio is gone. Too bad really. But I think the Flames really want to hammer home consistency in net. Hutton would be my choice. And Freidman called that just like Elliott for #35.
Not shocked Colborne wasn't qualified. If he doesn't take a major discount he will likely walk for nothing. Which some posters called stupid but I really just think he isn't just that sought after.
