When some people join this board they tend to, at the beginning, post far too much to the point of coming across as spamming and, therefore, a social contract is broken to which some individuals take offence. It's the old cliche that does apply, less is more. By actually discussing, not only topical subjects, but good analysis and depth discussion you will find that the community will embrace you far more and they will respond in kind with good analysis and depth discussion. Some people understand this and some don't. Sometimes it looks like you post just to get yourself noticed. This could be by accident, but it is food for thought and it should encourage you to hash out your conversation starters before you post them.
People who continually break the social contract tend to not last long here.

Not discounting him, I could see it happening too. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't either. Either way, he's better overall than he ever was and 100+ points is a rare thing these days for anyone.

I'll always remember the Pens/Caps series a few years ago when Crosby and Ovechkin traded hat-tricks and Ovechkin was over the moon whereas Crosby just fished the puck out of the net and brought it back to center ice.
Always loved that. Killer instinct. Real leadership.

I think he was rightfully criticized for his whiny behavior earlier in his career. But now he is a real leader. Thornton and Vlasic have been trying to get him off his game with cheap shots and face-washes, but he is a driven man right now. Not sure he will get the Conn Smythe, but I think he deserves it.

The guy isn't necessarily the most talented guy in the league, but he has the most drive out of anyone whilst playing bigger than he really is with exceptional talent and ability to deliver his vision. He is undoubtedly the best player in the world for the last 5 to 8 years imo. He is what every hockey player should Aspire to be especially since he toned down the constant whinging.

Disagree, there is no social contract. People are free to speak as frequently or not as they choose. This social contract is fabricated by your own bias and is entirely not universal and entirely not agreed upon.

I don't know about that. Some of the hype was way over the top at the time with some claiming he would be the next Gretzky.
I would definitely say Crosby has arguably been the best player in the league for most of the past decade, but not head and shoulders above his peers like Gretzky or even Lemieux was for a short period of time. I put him in the same group as players like Jagr, Ovechkin, Kurri, etc...

Well that comparison was flawed to begin with.
Gretzky was head and shoulders above his 'peers' because most of his peers sucked.
I dont get the pining for the NHL product of the 80s and 90s. It was largely pretty grim.

LOL what? The majority of the all time highest scoring players in NHL history are Gretzky's peers. He played in the league the same time as every single player in the top 30 all time except Johnny Bucyk. He played in an era that will likely go down as the golden age for offensive hockey in the NHL.

Okay, 'peers' isnt the right word as many of those guys were great players, how about : the average talent level was very low.
You had great players, good players and whole lot of filler.

I think thats reflected in the high goals per game of that era to which Gretzky benefitted from as much as anyone else that played then.
