I am starting to think that the Flames won't wait for next year's deadline to move Wideman. Good chance he goes in the off-season - though the return likewise probably won't be much. With Nakladal, Wotherspoon and Jokipakka (all small sample sizes - especially Jokipakka) all looking like at least legitimate bottom-pairing but dependable defenders, you can make the move now.

What makes me really interested, is how good is Kylington right now? He was playing top-pairing and looking good in the AHL doing so alongside Nakladal (though Nakladal was definitely leading that pairing). He was ahead of Wotherspoon in the lineup. Considering how well Wotherspoon has come in an played, that's pretty impressive.

Wotherspoon seemed like such a more mature and consistent guy out there than his other call-ups. I think he was trying to generate too much his first time out. Well, I think he was trying to be too safe his first time in the NHL, and then tried to generate too much. This time around, he just seemed like a smart guy out there that didn't put himself into dangerous situations, but would recognize a good opportunity to generate offence and he wouldn't hesitate. I really liked what I saw from him, and to be quite honest, I was very close to writing him off. Good to see!

Last year call up was for the meaningless last game of the season where the Flames got blown out by the Jets.

Then we was in for absolutely limited time for 6 playoff games. He dressed for 3 wins against Vancouver. He was even plus/minus for the playoffs (0 in every game) His games included the 6-1 game 1 of the Ducks series where he in his 14 minutes he and Schlemko were the only even Flames D-man.

In 2012-13 he was in for 14 games as a 20 yr old (Celebrated his 21st birthday with a 7-2 win over the Ducks). This was on the Flames team that ended up drafting 4th overall went With Wotherspoon in the lineup the team went 7-7-0 playing a lot of AHL callups.
