Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Soderberg's agent, JP Barry is currently negotiating with the Avalanche following the trade with the Bruins. Decent insurance for O'Reilly.

This will likely increase the price tag on Frolik.

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Carl Soderberg deal with Colorado is done. 5 years, 4.75 AAV.

Solid deal for a highly sought UFA. If they now manage to pull of a ROR+10th for 3rd swap to draft Hanifin, then hats off to Colorado.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Further to @CraigCustance on Soderberg deal, contract includes full NTC in first 2 years and limited NTC in last three

Hmm. The guy is almost 30 and has two solid but unspectacular years under his belt playing along side Eriksson. Is Eriksson the reason Soderberg was a 40 point guy or is Soderberg the reason Eriksson is no longer a 70 point player? Not a fan of the money and term here but the Avalanche kind of walk to the beat of a different drummer.

Wideman with half salary retained would be a $2.6 cap hit for the next two years.

For a guy who racked up 56 points and was top 20 for norris voting.

I'd say that would generate a tonne of interest.

Erikson is the reason that Soderberg has those points. When Erikson was moved up the 2nd line Soderberg stunk up the joint. When he was brought back down to the 3rd line with Soderberg he started producing again.
As a Bruins fan I would have liked to have kept him but that price is way to big for what he brought. If the Avs put him with talent he will be ok but if not then they will regret this signing, especially for 5 years with NTC.

The Flames should be all over a deal like that.

Without Wideman they have 4 NHL caliber d-men in their organization counting Engelland. When Gio misses 10 games in 2015-16 the Flames miss the playoffs.
