It is true, defence wasn't the issue in the NYI game. Our offence needs to get it together, and that would have been a game the Flames could have won.

Neither is a free agent. They will not be more "available" today or tomorrow than they were a week ago. Nor should they be.

Giordano is a huge part of our offence as well so its not just a defensive hole that would need to be plugged

#Flames Mark Giordano is on way back to Calgary. I asked Bob Hartley if Captain could rejoin team on road trip, he said it's possible

I'm sure Calgary is in the hunt for a Dman, surprised they'd announce this before tomorrow's deadline as this may erode leverage. That's why they will give 'more detail' tomorrow. Is there a set amount of time to put a guy on IR or something?
Offense was the problem over the last few games yes, but the Long Island game Wideman played over 30 minutes. He looked exhausted at the end. I don't think that's sustainable, so Calgary really does need to explore a solid 3-4 type Dman to help eat some minutes up since Hartley doesn't seem to trust Diaz or Engelland with large minutes.

IF they make the playoffs, injuries to key players will happen. They need to learn to play without key players. Just another lesson in a long road back to the top.

Giordano is as much an offensive catalyst as Hudler or Gaudreau.
When the game is on the line, you always see Giordano moving things up the ice quicker and launching pucks into dangerous areas from the point. He's a very large part of the "third period" momentum swells because he and Brodie up the pace and pinch at every opportunity late in games.
