I think it's the back to backs that are the worst part of this trip. Especially at the end when they will be tired.

But I agree with those who say that all year the media and many fans have been talking about big stretches of games and hard competition and the Flames have cone out fine. Is this really any worse or scarier than a California swing which we did better than expected in? All these other scary stretches of games certain people expected to put the team 'back where they should be'.

I do think it will be tough. But I don't see the doom and gloom many do. I'll stick with my 7-8 points and hanging on to the last wild card.

7-0

I can't be one of the new nine without picking a perfect road trip.

I see 7 points, 3-3-1. Which slows down the pace, but is not a disaster.
I posted this in another thread:

Flames current chances: http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/W...c/Calgary.html

Pace right now is 94 points (rounded down). Odds of making playoffs with 94 pts listed as mid-high 70s. Raise that to 96, odds jump to 95%

With the road trip coming up. The Flames need 8 points from 7 games to stay on pace (approx 1.15 pts/game = 94 point pace). They do better, then playoffs look like a safe bet. They do worse, then depending on how teams went around them, those last 16 games will need to be very strong

Yeah, guess I missed some of the games on the weekend. The point cutoff in the West looks like it's going to be higher than it originally looked. Could be 96 points. I doubt it'll be over that. It's never been higher than that.

The Kings will probably stay strong, but I don't see Minny keeping the pace they have been. In fact, I see them due for a hiccup.

But if we go .500 we can still make it up in the final push.

I'm hoping we go 4-2-1 for 9 points. That would be a solid road trip and put us in the drivers seat for the rest of the season.

I think the boys need 10 points to keep pace, so to speak. Or to keep a 'safe pace'. I just have a nervous feeling about Minny & LA pouring it on late, and SJ probably not interested in missing the playoffs this year.

I am hoping and therefore predicting a combination of W's L's & OTL's that will give us 10 pts.

8 pts only. The Flames for years don't seem to do well on these long Eastern road trips. Can they get the 1st period starts needed?

This trip seems to be taking forever. Let's get 2 more W's and get back for some home cooking, and Lance Bouma's mom's cookies.

So looking at the voting, the Flames did better than expected on this road trip. GG.

I'd have liked to see the voting had we known Gio was going to go down in game 2 and we'd have to play 5 of the 7 without him.

Obviously you can't do that, but the general point remains the same. Any thoughts we had on how the team would do was based on Gio playing all 7 games. We are 3-1-1 without him. Superb rally from the team.
