This is the type of thing I help people do on a daily basis since switching from Chef and to Machinist.

We file patents consistently either for ourselves or help our clients . American patents are much easier to get.

I really can't help much without knowing the product. If you wish you can Pm me .

I am willing to even tell you step by step on making a perfect prototype. I have no interest in stealing your idea.

Just make sure its got a wide enough appeal and can be sold for enough money to actually make money, depending the business model you're going for.

I'd say 90%+ of "inventions" cost their inventors thousands of dollars that they never recoup. Everyone sees it as their ticket to quick riches, but in reality, most inventions are a slow grind to bankruptcy. People don't want to give up on their dream and end up costing themselves and their family (oh, and most go to family first as their investors. Terrible idea) buckets of cash.

i don't know about 90%, and depends at which stage of funding you get, or how you finance it..... im seeing more and more go via KS that are actually funded by 3 or more VC's, just using KS to see exactly what the interest is (and get some advertising out there)

also.... depends how flexible your team is. Nobody successful would really bank their entire startup on 1 idea or product, most teams are flexible and have a few things going on unless you already have your niche. I do agree with most of what you said though.... never fall in love with your idea.

Thought I can get some feed back on this idea.
What you think about idea of App for live parking spot?

It can also include reserving spot for yourself. I will have some free time in future and considering taking up a project.

Where would you get the data about parking space availability?

I think on Parkplus's site you can pre-pay for a spot, but not reserve it. I am not sure how that could work.

The city might be able to make available how many spots are available in a zone and what's paid for, but that doesn't take into account people parking weirdly, large vehicles taking up multiple spots, or the random comings and goings in a zone. That would be unpredictable.

Is it something you could make on a 3D printer? I know guys with access to these and it's amazing what they can do. Great way to build a prototype on the cheap. There are lots of them around if you look.

Good luck!
