I have to believe you are young enough you never saw the man play.
Its the only logical explanation fo such a ridiculous statement.
Easily top 5 all time.

That's 5 off the top of my head that I would consider better.

He had one fantastic season, sure, but the rest he has just barely a point per game player in an era when the best players were crushing 1.5 - 2 PPG's.
He was good.

Loob was also the first player to win a Stanley Cup, World Championship and Olympic Gold if I recall correctly.
He is so difficult to explain to the new generation of fans.
He left in his absolute prime, and went out on top.
The closest I could say right now would be if Anze Kopitar left the NHL and went to play in Slovenia. Or more accurately, Anze Kopitar left after the first cup and went back to play for Slovenia. One of the differences was that Loob was also a First Team All Star though.
Before the "power ring" that goes along the balcony, in 1987 fans started a Loob sign. Then after each goal another "O" would be added to Loob. He scored 50 that season. It was awesome to see as a fan.

Iggy is my favourite athlete of all time over the likes of Brett Favre, Mike Tyson, GSP, etc
He's the boss of all bosses

Iginla is the best but will win in a landslide, voted Loob since he deserves some props too.

Loob was a treat to watch but Iggy is not just the best player ever to wear #12 but the best player ever to wear a Flames jersey, and he did so for a significant amount of his career.

I agree Iginla should be the choice here, but please dont dismiss Loob as some bit player....he was as good as anyone on that team.

Loob was the most skilled player on the best roster the Flames franchise ever iced.

Tough one for Loob, loved the guy, great player. He'd win almost any other race. Gotta go with Iggy though, pretty obvious.

For most of Loob's career in Calgary, the Flames were not a very skilled team. Watch the video of the '86 game 7 against the Oilers. Loob is making sweet passes that are bungled by guys like Steve Bozek and Jim Peplinski. He didn't reach his full potential until the Flames added guys like Niewendyk to the roster. And then he went back to Sweden.

Iginla rightfully deserves to win this, but there is nothing wrong with picking Loob. If you think there was, then you probably weren't around to witness the greatest era in Flames' history. He was simply a magician out there, brought fans out of their seats, had the entire dome cheering his name with even the slightest puck-touch, and was a huge reason why Calgary won their cup.
It was sad to see him leave at his prime - I felt had he played a few more seasons, his number just might be hanging from the rafters. He was one of the most gifted Flames of all time, and one of the biggest treats to watch as a fan every night.

This one should have been like the Lanny poll. There are no options here. Iggy is the only #12 that is relevant.

He'd be in my top 10 for sure. Was a sad day when he returned to Sweden and retired from the NHL.

Voting for you're second choice doesn't really make sense. Kinda defeats the point of this poll..

Haha, yeah no kidding. "I had two job offers come through, in the end I took the second best one because they had some nice things to offer as well."

Actually that pretty much sums up this poll. Iginla is obviously the best #12 in our team's history. The loob votes are more "Don't forget that Loob was also awesome" votes from older guys than "I think Loob was the best #12 in our team's history" votes.

What if we gave this one to Loob and #24 to Iggy?
