Honestly has Reynolds ever been in a very good movie? I am not trying to criticize the guy, but aside from Buried (which was good, but nothing special) and possibly Safe House he's been in one stinker after another. Green Lantern, Blade Trinity, RIPD, The Change Up, Turbo, Wolverine, The Amityville Horror are all legitimately awful. Maybe the romcom crowd likes him, but I've never understood the appeal. Is it all because of his affection towards Deadpool? Is that what I'm missing?

Exactly.
Neither of them understand comedy, they both think being sarcastic and making big goofy motions and facial expressions is what humour is all about.

It's part of it. He gets the character. His short turn in Origins showed that. But also the Hannibal King role really nailed it. His speech pattern, how he talks, how he carries himself. It all lends to the character perfectly. The fact he is what would be considered a major name helps.

Ryan Reynolds delivery is pretty spectacular and I love his happy sarcastic banter and one liners. He was the best part in Blade 3, a film where there were not many best parts. I think that role showed producers that he'd be a great Deadpool.

Reynolds is ok, not terribly unfunny in a smarmy, sarcastic way, and can be downright charming at times. Just Friends is a good example of what he can do when he's not forced to be something he's not.
Quite frankly, I'd be hard pressed to think of a better person to pull off Deadpool's persona.

He doesn't know about most of the stuff he's made a snap decision to attack or not like.

I thought Van Wilder was a pretty funny movie. Definitely Maybe was probably his best movie (IMO).

Chaos Theory is a lesser known one, but probably his best performance.

I'll agree that Reynolds was the best part of Blade 3 right up until the next best part of Blade 3 which was when I when my flask ran dry and I decided to leave.
That movie was hot garbage.

He's got better comedic timing than most, problem is he's typecast as Van Wilder and he never gets a shot at a decent role. I'd wager, given the chance, he could pull off a complex role fairly well. He was pretty good in Waiting, as was Dane Cook. So many worse actors than Ryan Reynolds to hate.

Barf... Oh and a February release date... Only bad superhero movies are released at such odd times in the year. They'll probably force them to work with a shoestring budget with a director with no vision, and we'll wind up with an awful PG-13 rated mess (ala Punisher, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, etc).
