Corsi for isn't a great stat to use to compare 2 players on different teams as the player on the better team will have a much high CF%. Using corsi for relative % is a much better metric as it compares their CF% to those on their teams so good players on bad teams aren't held back and vice versa. This season Giordano has a +5.8 CFRel % and Seabrook has a +3.7. If you compare the past 3 seasons (playoffs excluded, most recent to least) Giordano has +5.8, -0.3, and +0.7, whereas Seabrook has +3.7, -3.5, and +0.1. Giordano has been better every season according to those stats exclusively.

They have both hovered around 29% quality of competition which is a stat I don't fully understand. Giordano has started only 41% of his shifts in the offensive zone the past two seasons whereas Seabrook is around 56% which makes Giordano's numbers even more impressive. All numbers from extraskater.com which is a great site for advanced stat tracking

Giordano is better than Hamhuis even if Hamhuis is at 120%.

I'd have said 110%, but players give that all the time.

You don't send an injured player to the Olympics. Once it starts, there are no call ups or reinforcements coming. If it's Crosby with a slight groin problem, maybe; but an 8th D? No way. Hamhuis won't be going, I'm sure. Book it, Gio.

If Hamhuis is a game time decision for Saturday I don't see how he sits out the Olympics. It's not like Franzen and Sedin who have gold medals from '06, this is his one shot. Unless doctors shut him down I suspect he'll go.

Big ice + injured groin = disaster.

If he is injured and goes to Sochi anyway claiming he is ok to play then he is selfish for sure.

The initial link from sureloss doesn't work anymore. Must have been requested it be removed by the Canucks brass. Can't let the little secrets out now can we?

He is a Canuck, selfishness is built into his training.

What does "injured" mean? Half the roster is probably nursing something they can play through. .

Have you ever tried playing through a groin injury? On big ice good luck, Hamhuis will be stapled to the bench if he goes. You just dont have the same speed and lateral movement you need to be effective.

I've played through broken ankles and a groin injury and the broken ankle was much easier to play with. The groin injury is much worse and is easier to re-injure.

I'm guessing if you're sitting out club games you're getting paid for, you're probably injured enough to not be on the Olympic team.

Especially in process shafting a player whose had a far, far superior season and done in any honest man's opinion significantly more than him to be there, and who many want to see awarded that chance. And he's healthy.

Don't be a Canuck about this, Hamhuis!

"Ill used" would accurately describe this instance.

Yzerman should go to Vancouver and make him skate wind sprints, if he can't do it, get Gio on the phone.
