This is horrendous news! Both Wideman and Monahan. I guess we'll certainly be passed by the Oilers soon.

So sad for the kid. He is one of our only reasons to watch this year.

You're right. The PA and the League decided they could not mandate the mandatory foot protectors.

One thing that might come of this is that if Hartley pulls his head out of his ass we might see Backlund playing with Hudler and Baertschi.. FINALLY.

This could either prove Backlund's worth or help his trade value. Again.. IF HARTLEY DOESN'T SCREW THIS UP.

Bring it on.

I think you're underestimating just how terrible we are. Do you still have players that... score goals?

Then you probably won't out-suck Buffalo.

Monahan was hurt on November 21 when he blocked a shot at practice. #Flames

I guessed right on the Monahan one. Surprising they let him play last night then. Maybe just gave him a chance to see he if could play. As Stemniak plays but wears a boot off ice.
Monahan played two games since November 21. I couldn't tell anything was wrong with him. Must have received an injection before each game and this morning his foot felt worse so they decided to put him on IR so they don't make it worse.

Cammalleri - Stajan - Stempniak
Baertschi - Colborne - Hudler
Bouma - Backlund - D. Jones
B. Jones - Reinhart - McGrattan
Byron

Brodie - Russell
Smid - Butler
Smith - O'Brien

Colborne is just going to start playing 28 minutes a night.

You put too much faith in Hartley to give Backlund a chance on a better line.

Wideman was hurt bad and it was clear from the replay last night. Obvious that it was going to be a broken wrist/hand.

Monahan it wasn't clear when it happened but must have been blocking a shot. Who blocked the shot that deflected to Kane on the last goal?

Our defense is instantly better with Wideman out, because he's such a pylon

Yeah, you're probably right. Backlund lines up with the 4th line again for certain.

Ugh.

Was it skate guards or kevlar socks? I don't remember, but I do remember the kevlar socks after they talked about Big Ern getting a skate to the ankle in pre-season and the socks prevented him from getting a serious cut.

Hopefully Monahan and Giordano are back in mid-Dec. 9 games from now.

Glencross hopefully after the holidays. 13 games from now.

Schedule over that time

Nov 29 @ Ducks
Nov 30 @ Kings
Dec 04 vs Coyotes
Dec 06 vs Avalanche
Dec 07 @ Oilers
Dec 10 vs Bruins
Dec 12 vs Hurricanes
Dec 14 @ Sabres
Dec 15 @ Rangers
Dec 17 @ Bruins (my guess for Giordano and Monahan return)
Dec 19 @ Red Wings
Dec 21 @ Penguins
Dec 23 vs Blues
Dec 27 vs Oilers (my guess for Glencross return)

3-9-2 over this stretch would be fortunate.

You are forgetting how the coach uses Backlund. Try these instead:

Cammalleri - Stajan - Stempniak
Baertschi - Colborne - Hudler
Bouma - Byron- D. Jones
B. Jones - Reinhart - McGrattan
Backlund

Brodie - Russell
Smid - Butler
Smith - O'Brien
Breen

or

Cammalleri - Stajan - Stempniak
Byron- Colborne - Hudler
Bouma - Reinhart- D. Jones
Smith- B.Jones- McGrattan
Backlund
Baertshi

Brodie - Russell
Smid - Butler
Breen- O'Brien

Speedy recovery boys!

We really didn't need to try and suck, but this definitely puts us squarely in the Eckblad/Reinhart discussion. Buffalo would not choose another D this year, would they?

Here is hoping that the team reverts to the outwork/out backcheck form they showed at the start of the year when they were without Cammy (and Stajan for a bit).
