Jason Botchford @botchford 58s
Thornton shouted it to 20 reporters. If I don't report that, I'm called to the carpet
Wonder how he'll get "called to the carpet" when his bosses realizes no NHL player will ever talk to this guy......ever....

NHL players = role models.
If I get 4 scores of "Satisfactory Performance " this year on my performance review, I know what I'm doing.

Why does it matter if he played the game or not? It doesn't because i can all but guarantee that person has poured his blood and guts into something and experienced the euphoria when everything just clicks into place for a reason. The rest of it wasn't that big of a deal (OMG he said a naughty word!) but to me the worst part was Thornton's opening comment which was pretty much what you said. Just as it was stupid when keith did the "k see you later" thing.
Now I certainly understand that they are likely tired of answering that question, the kid was just clearly feeling it and caught up in the moment, Thornton was just annoyed and it isn't a big deal but whatever.

This Hertl and Thornton thing is exactly what this league needs more of. More skill and more personality.
Love it all.

Every beer league player is going to try to score four goals tonight.

Getting a kick out of the combination of "I love the comment" and "bush league by reporter" comments.
I understand that sentiment, I just find it funny is all.

It's one of those things where comments like this will usually get a player in trouble. So if he said it as a joke and off the record, even if it is funny, I don't think it should be repeated.
Though you are in the media, so what is your take on it?
Glad it was Botchford. Would be happy to see him go/get relegated to Lions or Canadians coverage.

I'm not sure what is so offensive about what he said and why anyone would be offended.
Are c*cks offended by having themselves stroked after a goal? It shouldn't be offensive to anyone, unless you're a shy dick.

Botchford just got dumped on by Johnson and Lebrun on That's Hockey. Both saying reporting the quote was out of bounds. Can't imagine we will be seeing him much on Tsn anymore.

Not a smart thing for Joe to say at all.
I mean, if Hertl followed Joe's advice, wouldn't he unnecessarily risk a 2 minute minor for "holding the stick"?

Just saw that. The reporter clearly crossed the line. Based on Johnson's attitude toward the situation, it looks like some serious code was broken. Loved how forward Johnson was.
