wow - that is awesome!

On that note, the new flame throwers they have this year are outstanding. Must be 10 times the flame that the old ones spewed.

I helped to install some of these last week. The concept is pretty simple but relatively cool with what you can do with it. You have a tonne of control over the LEDs, size, colour, frequency, patterns. It is tied into the Daktronics system so it can/will be synced to other lights, billboards and ring boards during songs, adds etc.

Personally I don't really care for them and think they are a little cheesy but I think majority of fans, especially the younger ones will get a kick out of them.

I think some arenas in the US have one or two LED boards. But to do the entire rink would likely cost a #### ton of money. There's also the potential for damage from flying pucks.

For pregame stuff it would look pretty damn cool. That second video though where they showed them go off with the goal celebration, it just reminded me of midway lights. Like others have said, if they keep it to team colours it could look great for goals, but the way they did it looked a little cheesy.

Like the concept though.

Just saw these during the Canucks/Devils game and I don't mind them.

Didn't see the pregame or anything elaborate, but having the partitions light up in red when a goal is scored would be something I wouldn't mind seeing in Calgary. We don't need to turn it into some Led Zeppelin concert like some of the video's in this thread, but having them turn red when a goal is scored wouldn't be too awful.

I was at the game last night, the stanchions acted like an equalizer during the anthem. That was cool.

But no amount of lights could change the brutally boring game between Jagr and the Canucks.

Also, Rogers area has the worst pretzels ever.

We just need more flamethrowers, preferably on the nets so that the opposing goalie fears for his life if he lets in a goal.

We need LED strings in the nets so that every time we score it appears to light the net on fire like 2 vs 2 open Ice hockey
