Have I missed something with Thomas' politics? It seems everyone in this thread is saying he is crazy and they don't agree with his politics.
All I know is he skipped out on a white house visit because he believe the U.S. government to be too big and do does not agree with many of there stances on things. It seems most Canadians and from what I read on here, CP would agree with these statements.
What did he do/say that I missed?

Joining the Panthers? Well that's one way of not meeting the President

Tim Thomas was NEVER a bad or poor teammate...he was a bad politician.
He helped Rask become a great goalie and I have no doubt if he is focused will help Calgary get the first overall pick next year.

Sounds like contract may be coming soon:

George Richards ‏@GeorgeRichards 1m Tim Thomas first off #FlaPanthers practice ice; followed by PR guy and Dale Tallon. Something could be happening contractually today...

Thomas is rumored to be starting in net for the Panthers tomorrow

I have it on pretty good authority that Thomas was not a good teammate and lost the respect of the locker room in Boston.

Are you kidding me? He stood behind that Chick Filet ######ation against gay marriage. It's 2013, not 1995.

That *** may still fly a little bit down in the States, but you'd be pretty hard pressed to stand behind something like that publicly anywhere in Canada and not get called a moron. And rightfully so.

Like I said I must have missed something. I stated what I knew and it wasn't this.

I do not agree with Thomas on this one.

Doesn't seem like it would be popular with the league in general, especially with the "You Can Play" campaign.

Still, not enough for me to dismiss the whole person. I assume lots of hockey people have all kinds of dumb opinions. He did take down the Canucks.

Well, now we know roughly how many season ticket holders the Panthers have. They automatically get counted.

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: Tim Thomas and FLA have contract terms in place, signing will occur once FLA ownership change is official, perhaps today or tomorrow.

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: If it's done today, Thomas could be in lineup for pre-season game tonight. Deal, when signed, will be 1 year, AAV likely between $3M-$4M.

Excellent. I hope this drives the Panthers into the playoff race. For some reason I've always been a bit of a Panther fan. Maybe its because there are so many former Flames that seem to end up there. Maybe its because of the whole rat thing.

This year though, its all about them not fighting us for the #1 draft pick.

I'd say the opposite, almost. It's plenty enough for me to write him off as a person, but him being an archaic far right moron doesn't make him any worse of a goaltender. He'll (probably) be fantastic this year.
