You cannot trade The Stajan. He is the motor on the NHL's top #1 line. Future generations will envy us for having the good luck to watch him live instead of merely learning about him in school and celebrating his wondrousness on International Stajan Day.
Fie on any such trade. Fie!

As to why not Stajan and Stempniak trade talks, I imagine they're not on top of anyones lists, including the fans. It's just more exiting to talk about where Iginla and Jagr than Stajan and Stempniak.
We might get to that point eventually. Or not. I'm with the people that think Stempniak and Stajan are nice fits going forward, as far as anyone on this team.

You don't save any money by putting someone on the IR, nor can you just put someone on the IR if they're not actually injured.

Because they will be essential members of the Flames to get a shot at drafting Seth Jones. Done.

No big enough names to generate any hits or views, hence you don't hear anything about them while names like Jagr, Iginla, Bouwmeester, Clowe were still on the market.
I would be surprised if at least 1 of the 2 were not moved by the deadline.

I don't think either of them are moving. I think Flames are almost done for their trades this deadline, if I was to guess. Kipper and perhaps Sarich and/or Babchuk could be dealt if there is sufficient interest (or any interest at all in Babchuk's case), but I am starting to think that the Flames aren't going to move any more bodies in their forward ranks.

Also, they are both UFA by the end of next season and I will expect they will then get moved if Feaster cannot find a good enough return for them this year.
Both are players who have actually lived up to their contracts this season and IMO are worth keeping if no better offer comes around.

I can't agree any more with this.
Stempniak and Stajan are cheap and versatile veterans. They're a good fit for a rebuild, especially next year when the Flames will be struggling to fill in the gaps due to their void of talent aged 25-30 years old

Jay Feaster told me that it's because he "really hates that Karl guy on CP".

The Flames are so weak at centre I don't think management will trade Stajan. I kind of agree too.
With the Roy and Morrow trades, I think the market is set for forwards. Stempniak has been playing arguably better than those two, has an extra season on his contract, and has a cap friendly 2.5 million price tag. If Feaster can only get like a mid-low 2nd for him, I don't think it is worth it. The Flames can still use him next year, or trade him next year. Based on the other trades than have gone down, I think Stempniak is worth a late 1st. If the Flames can get that, go for it. If now, I hope they hold on to him.
