Good point, I just thought it was real tight and Jay might not want to be at 50 and be at a disadvantage when talking trades with other GM's, but you are right, he was going to be at the max if the ROR thing worked out, so nevermind.

correct. Still, I think 868904 has a point ... 50 contracts wouldn't be helpful at the deadline.

True it is a bit of a handicap. But if Feaster can offload anybody for a pick then suddenly we're below again. Or Feaster can insist a team takes back one of our AHL guys just to get rid of a contract.

If we're offloading contracts to make room for any new signings I really hope Feaster signs John Ramage to a pro contract, rather than get in a bidding war for another college UFA. Leadership, defensive skill & clutch performer.

I think Ramage is still in the playoffs so he can't be signed yet. I'm wondering when we are going to hear our graduating juniors and M. Granlund are signed as well.

#Isles are in the mix for college FA D Andrej Sustr, according to source. 6-foot-8 Dman may make decision in next day or two.

I guess drafting 7 dmen in 7 rounds was not enough for the Isles.

At least they're acknowledging an area of weakness...

So they're looking to replace the pylon Joe Finley?
I'm thinking their plan to rebuild current D via waivers hasn't worked out well

The initial reason for our convo was to talk about how new CBA affected, if at all, potential early NCAA signings. Exec said that the feeling is that it wouldn't increase or decrease the number of signings. From that perspective the landscape is really unchanged. But he did say that with the "hit rate" rather low on undrafted UFAs that we might see less interest from teams for that reason.

Throw the ELC max at him -- it's a crapshoot anyway. Chances of him signing here are slim to none.

Damn, oh well. So is the part where we say he'll never amount to anything anyways? Or is it the part where we get mad at Feaster for missing out on a Grade A chance? I never know anymore.
