I don't hate the Flames PBP guy, but I get to choose between broadcasts, and I've noticed that I like almost every other guy in the league better. As a result I always start with the other teams broadcast these days, and only switch if there's a specific reason. (Technical issues or a truly brutal PBP guy.)
To be fair, this is in part because the other teams PBP guy tends to tell me stuff I don't know. It's usually more interesting to hear comments that come from outside the Flames echo chamber.
There's a couple of truly brutal guys out there, but I actually like most NHL PBP guys.
I don't know there are some pretty bad ones out there. Jack Edwards, Steigerwald out in Pittsburgh, the Avalanche crew, Drew Remenda and the Sharks crew, Detroit's duo, Tampa's crew and Columbus' PBP are all pretty bad off the top of my head.
People complain way too much. I liked Loubo, Kerr is alright. If they really bother you too much, mute them and put on the Fan.
Listening to TSN highlights, Rob Kerr screaming in the background reminds me of a Junior play-by-play guy compared to basically everyone else in the league. Do not like.

Can we change the topic title. I find it disrespectful putting a personal attack on a media professional up on the main board.
In the thread people can flame away, as harsh comments are associated to the individual poster.
Kerr's wackiness has made him more endearing.

He is the worst, there is no doubt about that at all. He should stick to radio. Wwhy can't the Flames go out and get a decent PBP guy, like seriously, I don't remember the last time we had a good one. I much prefer the CBC and TSN covered games.
Honestly regardless of who is calling flames games there will be always be plenty of CP people bashing them. It's getting pretty annoying, almost to the point where some of the people here need to start watching the game on mute.
I've noticed a clear cycle.
"I Hate this guy we need a new guy"
"Finally a new guy!"
"I hate this new guy"
"I miss the old guy"
Fact is, the broadcasting talent in the NHL is spread way too thin. Yes, we get more games on TV than we used to. But most of the people calling games today would not have made the cut 15 years ago. I remember when the CBC had two broadcasting crews, TSN had one, NBC had one, and then a handful of teams had local broadcasts. Unsurprisingly, the quality of the play calling and commentary was much higher. There simply isn't enough talent to support 20-something NHL broadcasting crews.
There are underpinnings in many posts - what is it about this man that just doesn't make sense. Eating Zetterberg "Snowballs" during the broadcast (and trying to commentate with his mouth full). Shouting out "HEEEEE SCRORESSZZZZ". Or "Where is IT !!!". What is it about this guy ?

I quite like the Detroit PBP. They have generally done their homework about the visiting team and are pretty balanced in giving out credit.
I liked Columbus too. It was funny when people were complaining about Kerrs "overdone" score shout on the OT, considering that the Columbus-guy sounded almost as excited (But he knew to not overdo it.)
A matter of tastes it seems. Who would have thought
I feel his general play by play has improved but his goal call needs honing and well as the abrupt volume changes in his voice when there's a turnover. That said Loubardias wasn't perfect either and I feel Millions was technically the best of the three and his downfall was his homerism.

Or with the ridiculous bias of Paul Steigerwald, so bad that it makes Penguins broadcasts completely unwatchable. And yet, somehow, he is an improvement on Mike Lange and his borderline ######ed canned catch phrases. Or Rick Jeanneret, who's calls of Sabres games makes me want to claw my ears off.
Kerr isn't embarrassing at all. His issue is that his emotions is too exaggerated at times. He needs to tone them down and try not to fabricate it too much. Be more professional to put it bluntly.
There's other issues, such as his "WHERE IS IT!?" calls, but overall I felt he has improved since last year.
Miss Pete L though. That guy had a great unique style, that still resembled a professional broadcast.

Well, at least Kerr does not say At The End Of The Day at the beginning of every second sentence like Peter Loubardias now does all afternoon on the radio. Does this annoy anybody else? I just find it really annoying to listen to this saying about 40 times an hour.
He is not really improving but I know he has a strong work ethic and hopefully he gets better. He is pretty awful though and was much better as the afternoon host of the fan

Agree on the Pittsburgh guys, awful.
Jeanneret is great though. Sure his goal schtick can get tiresome but his normal play-by-play is amazing.

Kerr and Loubo both suck. Kerr is ok on the radio.
There seems to be a shortage of good on air peronalities in both radio and tv in Canada. At least with Kerr, they went with someone new rather than old rehashed (non) talent.
I agree with others that Kerr was better on the radio.
