I fail to see how Miettinen has any value at all and I stand by the fact I think he has negative value and that Cheese would have to add something to him just to get rid of him. Who in their right mind would want him? Jackman is having a decent NHL season which is why I was willing to bite the bullet, take a BIG rating downgrade, take on the 1-way contract in the hopes he would play OK in Columbus (no guarantees). Adding a good pick to Pitkanen for this package seems completely unnecessary and in fact...

I think that Pitkanen has more value than Jackman, combine that with Miettinen's negative value, Cheese should be adding.

I'm kinda torn on the whole thing here but I do know that I'd give up an asset for Miettinen, I don't think he has negative value. Close, but I think he's worth something.

Hurricanes activate Joni Pitkanen from IR


Carolina has activated defenseman Joni Pitkanen off injured reserve, as he is expected to dress on Wednesday after being sidelined since Dec. 6 with a concussion and knee surgery.

He has been limited to 21 games this season due to injuries, but is a valuable blueliner for the Hurricanes when he plays. He was Carolina's leader in average ice time prior to his 44-game absence and he was the team's leading scorer on the back end with 12 points on the year. Coach Kirk Muller doesn't plan to limit his minutes despite his long layoff and he will be paired with Jamie McBain against Florida.

I see Miettenen as having negative value. The 1 way deal is what kills amy potential value he has. In all honesty I wouldn't take Mietenen + a mid 1st for free as I think his salary would hamper my team my then adding another 1st would help $e moving fwd. But that's just my opinion.

I'd take Miettinen and a mid 1st for free. Then I'd trade Miettinen to KG for whatever I could talk him into. You lose, Penguin.
