Muay Thai at Lumpini Stadium is a blast. Tuesday nights have the best fights. I have been there twice and sat ringside for 1800 Bht (just under $60) but it's such a small venue that anywhere in the next price level down will still be a great seat. Take a tuk tuk there for the full effect.

I read that while on vacation in Thailand last year. Worth reading regardless of any Thailand connection though. Enjoyable book.

If you find yourself in Phuket, the Tiger bar complex in Patong is definately worth checking out in the evening when it gets into full swing.
