I dread the day my parents pass on, i have 3 siblings so everything is going to get split 4 ways. I am the executor of their estate however as they feel i am the only one who could split things up amicably.

That is something i NEVER want to do, simply because i know its going to cause a ####storm with my siblings.

Given that it appears this is your area of expertise Troutman, it's interesting to me that when I PM'd you a question about this very subject when my mother passed away a few years ago, I never got a response.

You gotta paypal him his retainer first. And send him a box of hookers and blow.

Pull a Steve Jobs and tell them there was less money than was actually paid out and keep the biggest chunk yourself.

My Dad bought a book a few years back called "Die Broke", and one of the lines in the book is that the last cheque you ever write should be for your funeral, and it should bounce.

I thought that was pretty funny.

My mom thinks it is morbid that my sister and I have discussed what we want to do with their estate. However after seeing the fallout from when my first grandmother died- it's not about greed but more about being able to maintain relationships. There are members of my dad's family who haven't spoken in over a decade now; all over a few hundred dollars worth of stuff.

And it's a good thing we had the discussion. My sister has plans for my parents' house; plans that I don't agree with. We worked it out and have an understanding now. Such a discussion may not have been possible with the emotions of a funeral also being in play.
