It's incredible how soft parents are these days.
Let kids be kids, damn. The future of this world is doomed when the alien invasion comes.

It was disgusting and totally awesome all at the same time. It was a mark of pride to get a murder ball war wound from him.
He was cruel too. He would go for your feet, and try and put you ass over tea kettle right on your head.
|
That was him, he had a rubber elbow and he could get that ball moving in a hurry.
There was the intimidation factor to him.
He'd throw the ball head high at you and you'd barely dive out of the way and that ball would hit the wall and sound like Zeus himself got pissed at his wife and punched the wall out. Then the next time he got the ball back and he'd lean back to throw and you'd shriek like a girl and cover your face with one hand and your nuts with the other and he'd put the damn thing shin height.
He was a really nice guy, its too bad that the rest of the gym teachers were a mixture of a rapist and angry man hater and the hot looking milf in tight sweats.

I got my first concussion when I hung upside down from one of them to impress this girl and slipped off of the bar and piledrove my head into the concrete.
She just wasn't impressed.

I'm not even that old (22) and things were way different when I was in school. Tackle football, full-contact soccer, the works.
Even our supervised floor hockey games got pretty chippy and we didn't get in trouble. Just pathetic the way things are going.

Full contact soccer, tackle football and handball (a cross between rugby and football where it was full contact with a smallish plasticy/rubbery ball where you had to throw it through the soccer goal to score). Those were the good old days fro grade 3-6, but the tackle football ended abruptly when someone got grabbed by the hood and tossed headfirst into the metal soccer goal post and was knocked out. Hard to believe that was 7 years ago.

I think I told this story before. But at Sam Livingston elementary, they had one of those used truck tire playgrounds. You know the ones that always smelt like urine and hobos? Anyway.....
I jumped off the top of it... (off course to impress a girl), and skewered my leg with a piece of rebar being used to hold up a tree, right between my tibia and fibula. Still have a totally awesome scar to this day from it.

My high school administrators would confiscate playing cards because they were "gambling instruments".
The only logical response was to gamble on whether on the adminustrators would confiscate your cards, and see if the admistrator gets confiscated.

All of you 30/40/50 year olds are making the rules and worrying about your kids now. It's up to you to change this safety/fear culture.

Wow...
We used to strap on ski goggles and hockey pads so we could have "commando" wars in the streets and shoot eachother with our pellet guns.
These kids are pu$$ies!!
Their liberal (come on, we all know it) parents are ruining their lives.

I'm going to teach Maks the Impaler about poker and the vig by age 4. I expect him to be running a game when he gets to elementary - if he does a good job, he can go to private school.

I remeber playing with metal tiped lawn darts. Taught me to be carefull. Now adays kids learn nothing when the police state take the games away.
Why Nerf balls? Someone could eat one and choke to death.

Pads and goggles are for pansies. I have a buddy's basement walls and ceiling to prove this.

Well after a few close calls, including when I shot my friend in the ear......we collectively took a step back, set a couple ground rules (goggles) and we didn't need adults to take our guns away!

I got an earfull from my foster kids deputy principal today as I stated the obvious, that my foster kids going to get his arse kicked by his hoodlum buddies and there isn't a thing we can do to stop it, they are convinced they can some how keep him safe (by transfering him out of their school of course).

Random sports set up by my young friends and I were amazing.
We used to set up for corners with jackets/bags and have a royal rumble, almost every lunch time recess. The object was just to push them outside the limits of the "ring". The cute girls judged!
