I'm saying current popularity isn't a reliable indicator of quality.

The Pacifier made more at the box office than Pulp Fiction
Okay..... I guess I disagree. IMO, this movie will be great but I guess we will have to wait and see.

As for Pulp Fiction, that movie is brutual. I know you were making a point just not sure what. I have not seen Pacifier so its tough to compare.

Godfather is THE trilogy... to me, when someone says trilogy, that is what comes to mind.

Other honorable mentions:

-Star Wars 4-6

-This is technically not a trilogy, but Star Trek 2, 3 & 4 are a continuous story and are truly the shining light of the franchise that has been ruined by terrible plots (Nemesis) and actors thinking they are A-List (Brent Spiner, and to a lesser extent Patrick Stewart)

I'll second that. I've never met anyone who hated Pulp Fiction. Maybe people who don't think it's as great as I do, but never a single person who thought it was a bad movie.

I haven't seen The Pacifier either but I can say with total confidence that Pulp Fiction is a better movie. Vin Diesel? Pffft.

Add my wife to the list of people who hate Pulp Fiction, although I keep trying to get her to watch it again. Different strokes for different folks...

Much like how I think the prequels were an abomination, Pulp Fiction was a genuine moment of cinematic history. Sure all of the techniques had been done before in various different (European) films but Pulp Fiction brought them all together with an absolutely compelling script, stellar and hokey acting, and a true adaptation of actual pulp fiction.

Great film.

Way better than anything Tarantino's done before or since.

Sergio Leone's masterpieces....A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Hnads down my favorite trilogy.

So HIS story involves an 8 minute long ad for the pod race video game in episode 1?

HIS story is a crapulous mess of bad cliches, bad plot devices, plot holes, and crass tacky consumerist exercises.

Didn't I hear somewhere that the pod race was an homage to the chariot race in Ben Hur? Not many people complain about that.

And George says during his commentary on the Episode II DVD that the prequels mirror a lot of what happened during the original trilogy.

Guess you're not much of a fan of the original trilogy either.

Gotta be Die Hard, I love all three of them

A close second is the Terminator trilogy, the third was a little shaky, but the second one is so good and I just love the story. Lots of the Matrix is from the Terminator

God Father is the absolute best for me. Never before did the viewers root for the mob, it was brilliant at the time and still is a great show. The great cast didn't hurt either.

LOR - hated it. Too long for the story that needed to be told. I was bored.

Star Wars, both the original and the pre-sequels are great. I think that most people appreciate the originals better because they saw it with different eyes (young age) and in different times (movie making technology) As a kid seeing it for the first time was an experience of a life time. Now we know that there are no technical limits so the expectancy is much higher. Bottom line for me is that I enjoyed all of them greatly and I am not a sci-fi kind a guy to start with.

Another series worth mentioning would be Rocky. It was great back in the day, now I have mixed feelings. Maybe I've seen it too many times.

Oh and add my wife and her many female friends that hated Pulp Fiction. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. It was different and the acting was good and I always appreciate it. IMO the best movie Tarantino made was Jacky Brown. It was based on a novel (I think) so he can't take full credit for it. Nevertheless it was a great show with a lot of Tarantinizm thrown in and good cast.

Yes you should! They are beautiful films, if you know what I mean.....and I think you do.

As mentioned in the other thread, the final scene in GBU is pure brilliance and it gives me goosebumps everytime I see it.

The first Jurassic Park is one of my all-time favourite movies. #2 was good until the ending and #3 was fairly decent as well. Why did they have to have stupid annoying kids in all of them though?

Lord of the Rings was not that great. To me it was the same crap from movie one to three. The same endless speeches, the very slow pace, the same big battle at the end of each, it just dragged on forever. No way would I waste money on that horrible box set. Maybe I'm just not into elves and hobbits.

Godfather is probably the best trilogy.

I'm not a huge Westerns fan, but I really enjoyed them... especially For A Few Dollars More (I think thats the one with the music box and Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Clief on seemingly opposite ends)

I love the musical scores in those movies too... fantastic.
