I guess it hurts nobody?

But who does it help?

Just seems pointless.

I never said that I am ngry they did do it. I just thought it was stupid and unnecessary.

You don't get angry when the government tries to do stupid and unnecessary things?

If it was a split decision, then I'd say whatever, but the (vast) majority of the Reform/Conservative party was in favour of granting citizenship, so how is Rob's veto warranted?

Why do you help old ladies accross the street? She's not your grandma, and its not your street, so why bother, right?

My prof last semester made a joke about Alberta. He said an iguana could run in a riding, but as long as he ran for the Conservative party, he would win.
In all honesty, how many people REALLY know who their riding representatives are and what they stand for?

You know what, I can't say I know that many people (actually, not ANY people) who actually like Anders. I do know people who vote for him though. Something to do with the "greater good" of the party, and how every vote counts. It's fine if people think like that, although I'm just not one of them. Seems like I'm not alone.

In a system where party-discipline and voting along party lines is expected, it makes sense to vote for the Party instead of the Person.

I doubt many people actually support their MP, but rather their party. Its just the way it is here.

Anders is a dim-wit for what he said about Mandela. But this was one event. Are there any other things that this guy has said? Legit question....it is just you would think an overt comment like the Mandela one must be followed up by more ridiculous thoughts. He strikes me as a young, inexperienced politician who was trying to make a name for himself and stuck his head above the parapet.

honestly I am used to governments doing stupid and unnecessary things so I don't get angry when it is something like this which doesn't negatively impact my life.

I said I didn't agree with him veoting it or voting against it when he did. just that the thought of him opposing it was understandable to me and plus I think if he did believe against strongly then he should vote no to show that if for nothing else.

I don't help old ladies accross the street whether they are my grandma or not.
