220 in a supercharged Thunderbird. I rolled down the window to see what would happen and nearly burst my eardrums.
For anyone wanting to reach ludicrous speed I suggest the dump road in Okotoks. If you've ever taken hiway 2 through the town, and up a GIGANTIC hill to a t-intersection (left goes to High River, right goes to Longview) then you've driven the road. I was in a buddy's topaz that had a speedo that only went to 140, but we were doing well over that when we hit a gopher and split it into about 4 pieces.
The dumbest thing I ever did was 160 on rollerblades behind a truck on that hill. We even have it on tape. It was all fun and games until we decelerated to about 100, and one of my wheels melted and tore off in turn jamming my skate. Going that fast on one foot was a little sketchy.
I also have a friend who used to see how fast he could go spread eagled on the windshield of vehicles. I was in an Audi that was doing around 160 with him holding on to the wipers. Now that was ######ed.
Ahhhh memories of small town fun.......

I just got back from Porgugal and its very common to have people pass you at 200km/h or more. The fun part is the minimum speed is 50, so you come up on a shinguardty old truck doing 50, and go to change lanes and a mercedes doing 240 flies up your ass.
They also lead Europe in Pedestrian fatalities... shocking.

My dad used to own an 87 Mercedes 300E that used to belong to the guy who owned the Benz dealership in Kamloops. He had some type of chip put in the car to get some extra juice out of it. Anyways one morning going to referee hockey at 6 in the morning I decided to let it fly and burried the needle at 240km/h. But that was nuts, and scared the hell out of me, and thats with a car thats built to drive fast. But for the most part I still like to drive pretty fast, but only on the highway when there isn't any traffic and if I don't have any passengers. I always slow down in residential, school, playground, and construction zones to the posted limits.

180 kph in my old 2000 Acura EL heading to Banff from Calgary, during the part when the TransCanada is wide and visibility is perfect on a July afternoon, only did it for about 3 minutes. The govenor on that car is supposedly 195 kph.
Also do 140 kph in a 97 Honda Civic sometimes when I'm late for work at 6am Sunday mornings and no one's around on Deerfoot, weather permitting of course.

Hmmmm. I guess this thread could also be entitled "What's the stupidest thing you've ever done".
Driving that fast is as dumb as driving drunk. Well not quite...but darn close.

Agreed.
When I was 17 I had my car ('76 Buick Skylark coupe) pegged @ 120 MPH (top end for the speedometer) and I know I was going faster than that. This was on a 2 lane country road (paved) with all sorts of critters living nearby that could've easily wandered into my path and wreaked much havoc. I didn't have a seat belt on either, because the car didn't have any. Could've very easily ended for me on that road that night.

Had my old 95 Grand Am up to 185 on 8th Street in Airdrie before it became a residential road. Could have gone faster, but I was running out of road.
Managed to get my company's Caravan up to 180 on Highway 36 north of Manning, but had to slow down because it felt like it was going to fly apart.
