The Angels, largely dormant for much of the offseason, are on the verge of landing Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells in a blockbuster trade, according to major-league sources.

The Jays will acquire catcher Mike Napoli in the deal, sources said.

Wells was in Anaheim for a physical on Friday. Napoli and others in the deal must also pass physicals.

Also reading Juan Rivera could be heading the jays way....this just seems unreal given that contract which was considered my most to be unmovable.

Juan Rivera also coming the Jays way in the deal. Wells is scheduled to make, $24, $21, $21 & $21 million in the next 4 years. I don't care if the Jays have to send a $40 million cheque in the deal with Wells, they still win this trade.

They just traded one of the most untradeable contracts in sports!

Sounds like Rivera and Napoli to jays for wells. 11 mil coming in, 23 mil going out in 2011. This is like Xmas morning for a jays fan....if true. Still seems unreal.

I'm beyond excited that this could be true and want confirmation but I'm also just waiting to click on a link and find out just what the Jays had to do to make this trade happen.

Yeah absolutely.

If this is true, this has to be considered (on paper of course) one of the best jays deals of all time.

This would free up substantial money for the next 4 years, and handcuff an American league rival with a terrible contract and average outfielder.

Napoli can play 1B too which makes this even better.
