I'm starting to think this season is turning out mediocre overall. The race in the West is all but over. Stamps are running away with the division unless the Riders rebound and win both games at Taylor Field. East might be kind of interesting but I don't think Ham will catch Mtl.

Lot of bad games this year it seems. After a great game to open the season there haven't been many nailbiters. If BC gets their act together there could be a race for 2nd in the West.

Shame on you Eskimos. While you're at it, and since you need an RB, pull some strings and get Lawrence Phillips out of jail, and may as well see if Trevis Smith is up for parole yet.

Although Hugh Campbell always had someone from the league office in his back pocket when he was in charge, he would never have gone so low or be so desperate as to hire this guy, at least this soon.

I actually give them props. On just a football basis Tillman's by far the best candidate to get the on field product turned around. He knows that Canadian talent is key and will use the Canadian draft to bring in the best available players rather than trade the picks away and pick stiffs as Machoka. He turned around the Riders by adding all those Canadian receivers which made it possibly to stack the defense with American players.

Ownership and management obviously knew this wouldn't be a popular hire but rather than hire a lesser GM for PR purposes they hired the best guy for football purposes. Very difficult but IMO the right decision as when the wins start coming people will quickly jump on the bandwagon just as Riderfans did when Tillman took that hapless franchise into a contender.

Tillman made a mistake whether it be under the influence of medication or not it was still something that you expect an adult should know better. However he didn't rape or force himself on her so IMO he shouldn't have his life and career ended over it. It's a touchy subject when minors are involved and I understand that but the reality is that MacTavish killed a human being under the influence of alcohol. There's no excusing that his poor judgement to drive under the influence of alcohol took an innocent life and altered the course of the victim and families forever. It's telling how society is perfectly acceptable to see him resume his career as a coach and watch him on TSN yet Tillman is a horrible man that should never be given a second chance.

No he didn't. He made a gesture but it's not like he held on to her so she couldn't escape or imprisoned her. I'm not condoning what he did and not saying that he shouldn't be looked at in a different light. If he was being considered for a school, daycare, or a job that involves childeren I would be very wary however we are talking about a football job here so I don't see the relevance.

Tillman pulled "the rear end of the complainant into himself" by putting his fingers in the belt loops on her hips.

"While in that position, there was physical contact that was clearly of a sexual nature," Burge said. "This occurred without the consent of the complainant, and she told the accused 'no.'"

So you are worried about him grabbing the belt buckles of groupies next time he's on pain meds? The guy isn't a criminal and doesn't have a criminal record. He has no history of prior convictions or accusations. He was sent home from work because he was messed up so nobody can say without a doubt that he's some sort of predator so I'm not willing to condemn the guy for the rest of his life as he will be watched closely as it is. Obviously the Eskimos management and owners saw enough to draw their own conclusion.

Except MacTavish paid (at least a little bit) for his actions with a year in jail. Tillman got off with a slap on the wrist, thanks to a Rider-jersey wearing judge. Certainly not the same offenses, but in addition to the nature of the crime, the fact that he went basically unpunished and if it was John Q Public who did this (and I am not sure the full story is out or will ever be out) that person wouldn't be allowed to work anywhere this soon after being convicted of this offense..

That, and Tillman isn't the messiah made out to be either football wise. As shady and shifty as Shivers is and was, he was the arcitecht of that team, Tillman stepped in and made a few moves and got them to win a few playoff games.

Because of that, Edmonton now gets the bad PR which won't go away if they win 2 games, and an recycled GM that may or may not do anything to better the team. Plus, with Tillman's ties to Hall, maybe he stays, when really, although Hall may end up being an ok coach, its clear the roster has tuned him out.

Again, shame on the Eskimos. Write this season off, blow it all up in the offseason when there will be candidate available that don't bring 10 cases of ugly baggage with them.

You have a wonderful way of putting words in peoples mouths...i never said nor insinuated anything of the sort. You were trying to say that because its a football job he wouldnt have access to young women...which is patently false.

As for the bolded part...they sure have made a whole bunch of great decisions of late haven't they?

Does anyone else find TSN's ad placement on that page just a little ominous?

Some things from the Tillman presser.

It is a 3 year contract.

Will have strong Canadian content.

Responsible for the budget.

Rick Lelachur says it was a football decision. Eric was best football person available, including who may have been available in the off season.

Eskimo CEO says they know ET hiring is a business risk.

ET is now crying.

All of the Eskimo board supported the decision.

Is Responsible for the budget.

Says if you are unpopular in the off season now with the players means you are probably doing a pretty good job.

As the Stamps were racking up the points on Friday I yelled at the Eskimos fans that were heckling: "Don't worry Edmonton I hear Eric Tillman likes coming from behind!"
