We are picking 19th. The first two mocks I found had us picking Dylan Holloway at 19, did some reading into him. He actually seems like he may not be a bad option. Big, fast, hits, center, and he may not be fully tapped into yet playing behind some top 10 picks from the previous drafts.
What is the Jury on Holloway?

NCAA player. Kind of wishy washy on spending an important pick on a player who can just leave as he wants. I say that as I previously announce my desire for a Russian player lol.
But yeah, interesting player but he's not coming any sooner than 3 years.

I'm surprised that someone who got 99 points in 53 AJHL games only got 17 points in 35 NCAA games the next year. That seems like a much larger dip than usual for that transition if you compare to other guys who made that switch.
Does anyone know how many minutes he got?

Yep it's not a bad pick and he's also a Calgary kid (Bragg Creek). FC has him as a 200 foot centre with high hockey IQ and call him "the whole package".
I'd like to see Zary, Holloway, or Lapierre get picked at 19th.

The fact he's a local kid would likely bode well for us.

Yeah the report I read on him had him as a 200 foot center, who plays with heart and isnt afraid to throw his body around. And man about now that just sounds like something this team needs

Yeah I'm aboard that train for sure.
Lots of potential guys in that area though

Holloway would be a great pick. He's a very competitive kid and plays a complete game. I'm not sure he has the highest ceiling of guys who could be available but I think there's no doubt he's an NHL player. Not sure he falls to 19 though, I expect him between the 14-18 range, and have heard the Oilers are big fans of him

I'd be a bit wary of Holloway's point total.
Could be a good bottom 6 center but not sure he has high end talent.
I'm a big fan of Byron Bader's NHL Equivalency Model and his site hockeyprospecting.com
Based on his model and his calculation of start probability here are his top 15 forwards, and top 5 d-men
Top 15 Forwards Based on His Star Model :
Rossi
Lafreniere
Byfield
Perfetti
Jarvis
Perreault
Amirov
Mercer
Zary
Holtz
Foerster
Stutzle
Colangelo
Nevolin
Beryozkin
Top 5 D Based on his Model:
Drysdale
Cotton
Grans
Constantinou
McCourt
So based on production and comparison to past players the centers with the production that falls in line closest to guys that were "Stars" at the NHL level that may fall into our range are Zary, Perreault, or Jarvis. Also if the Flames could somehow get into the top 5 to draft Rossi that would be amazing.

Seth Jarvis or Rodian Amirov if possible. Most likely require us to move up somehow. Need for speed.

Perreault would very likely be available at 19

His -34 is a bit worrying considering his linemate, Sean Josling, was positive.
That said, most players on that team were minus.

He would probably be the whipping boy on this team by the end of the first period of his first NHL game. I like the speed and if Mangament think they can get him to work on the defensive side of the game then go for it. I think this pick depends entirely on how well the interviews with him go.

Here's what I like about Amirov comparative to the rest of the pack in our range:
1. Complete player. As defensively sound as he is offensively and thats high end.
2. High IQ. Reads and react to developing situations quickly. A step ahead than most. Very evident in all YouTube videos.
3. Competitive. Not afraid of dirty and hard areas of the game. Excellent forchecker.
4. Top end skating. Great maneuverability and high end speed, transitions greatly and has great jump. Powerful skater. Better north south skater but is definitely not a slouch in tight either.
5. Versatile. Plays all three fw spots but most effective on either wing. Can get a hard accurate shot off equally from either side. See YouTube videos also.
6. 18. And struggled against men because he weighs a buck sixty soaking wet. Adds 8-12 pounds of muscle and holy smokes this guy is going to dominate with his skill package.
I know I'm making him sound like a top ten pick, and he likely is. But he is also not your prototypical Russian Winger either. He packs a ton of substance on top of it.and I think he will be there at 19 because you're going to have to wait a year before he comes over. But its only a year for a. Flames team that should be looking down the road instead of next season.
If we can't get a Jarvis or Quinn of Zary, Amirov is definitely the very tippy top of the list. Actually, I've slotted him above Quin for preference and I REALLY REALLY want a RHS RW.
But man, if we get to choose between Jarvis and Amirov, it'll be a tough one. I think Amirov is a more sure bet but Jarvis has superstar material if he can keep his head in the game.

Has he done this for past drafts, and if yes, how accurate was he?
I really hope the Flames draft Cotton.

At 19 I am rooting for Zary or Mercer. Something seems off about Perrault to me and the lack of offensive production from Holloway should give us all pause.

Not knowing much other than the brief things I've read I like the sounds of 3 centres in particular:
Dawson Mercer, Seth Jarvis, and Hendrix Lapierre.
Craig Button's List has them as 17th, 23rd, and 10th. Though Lapierre is a wildcard with his injuries.
“Lapierre is the wild card of this draft,” Button said. “I should probably have him higher based on his potential, because I think he’s a top-five player if he can return to full health. He’s the best two-way player in the draft.”

Hoping the flames could somehow nab another first rounder in this draft through trade. Good deep draft, Flames building for the future would go a long way with the fans.

interesting seeing Stutzle so low, since he's likely to be a top 3 pick

if Hamonic isn't coming back, they should trade their first for a guy like Gudbranson.

I sincerely hope that was a joke. Flames dont need to sign D men if they're going into a retool. Doubly so bringing in a worse player than hammer was for us. Gudbranson is flaming red hot poo.
