Because of 2004, a big part of me is upset. At least it’s the COVID cup. They’ve won 2 BS cups now.

As a Flames fan, I'd gladly take 2 "BS cups" over nothing...

The NHL did as well as they could given the situation, but let's not kid ourselves - these playoffs were worse than terrible.

Ya not sure sure we should be comparing the records of the Flames and Lightning since 2004.

They were beyond awesome, considering the circumstances....and NO POSITIVE Covid cases. Remarkable achievement.

What?

No they weren’t. This was a fantastic stretch of hockey.

They missed the playoffs in 16-17....no way he survives that to even see last year.

NHL did a great job but was hoping they would have been more creative with camera angles, booms, drones etc. There were lots of opportunities without fans in the stands.

Definitely not an asterisk cup.The hockey was as intense as any playoffs I've seen. The atmosphere sucked but that has nothing to do with the level of hockey.

Now baseball should definitely have an asterisk beside this year's champ. But hockey and basketball is legit.

I wonder if Jay Feaster gets his name on this cup.

Cool looking at Tampa Bay news sites. City is celebrating. Office towers all lit up in blue.

Except that's not true.

I think it definitely should have been reviewed, but based on every camera angle we've seen there's literally no way the NHL would have overruled the no goal call from the ice.

Clinging to that is just embarrassing to me. It didn't count and the Flames lost... time to get over it.

Same with when fans call this an asterisk cup given the circumstances, as if they wouldn't accept it had the Flames gone all the way and won it.

If the flames won this year would it still be an asterisk?

These guys played their hearts out. Fans aren't on the ice doing it for them, give them some credit.

Stamkos is the 5th first-overall pick from the '00s to win the Cup with the team that drafted him.

Only 5 players chosen first overall between 1970 and 1999 won the Cup with the team that drafted them (Lafleur, Potvin, Lemieux, Modano, Lecavallier*).

So far, no players drafted first overall in the 2010s has won the Cup with the team that drafted him. If I were a betting man, MacKinnon is the only one I'd put any money on to do it.
