Nigeria has really struggled to have any sort of link up play, Croatia I guess has been a little bit better

Wonderful game from Mandzu. That's what we need from him to get to the knock out stage.

I am just watching highlights. I don’t understand how France was awarded a penalty kick. They keep replaying it and I truly don’t see any contact? The French player jumped over him clearly.

Just saw it - clearly clipped his heel.

Yeah I was kind of disappointed by Nigeria. They have plenty of skill, but they just came out flat and lifeless.

I'm not sure you can say he clearly clipped his heel when it took a zoomed in super slow motion replay to see anything. Not to mention it also looked like the defender may have slightly touched the ball and the French player obviously took a leaping dive.

I really wish the Argentina Iceland ref was doing the France Australia game. He didn't fall for the dives, kept the cards in his pocket, and showed some discretion by not awarding a penalty when an Argentinian went down in the box.

I guess I can't be too upset though. It took the French a coin flip call, a fluke goal, and some great diving to barely beat a nation of 20 million where soccer is the 4th most popular sport.

Argentina is not Barcelona and Messi is one of the best players in the world, if not the best. But he is not being played effectively within the Argentinian system.

I dont have a horse in the race between Ronaldo and Messi. I really dont care. But I will say that the application of Ronaldo for his National Team is tactically superior to Messi's application for his.

That is not on the players.

I almost guarantee you that Messi would have a much more illustrious international career if their coach trusted someone else on the team from time to time.

I said it in my initial post about this, Argentina look like Messi and 10 other random dudes.

Thats not going to work.

The post game panel I was saying the same thing. The Argentinians forced everything to the middle for Messi and gave up the wings.

Costa Rica seems really underrated coming into this tournament being an underdog vs Serbia and no one giving them a chance to progress. They won the group of death at the last Cup and had a decent qualification. I could see them making the next round.

It’s the day I’ve been waiting for 4 years. Hopefully this is the beginning of the road to redemption for Brasil. The country is going through an awful moment and to see the football team get respect on the world stage would light up an entire nation. Here’s to a good tournament where Brazil can hopefully rekindle some magic from the past.

Vai Brasil!!!

Nothing but video review delays for potential red cards at the end of Serbia-Costa Rica. Crowd not thrilled with it.

Well I take back what I said, Costa Rica looked pretty bad today. They sat back and did nothing early and then could not generate any chances when trying to press late.

If soccer wants to use VAR properly they have to get rid of the continuous clock. The ref never adds enough time to begin with, now it just gets worse.

Serbia looked good to possibly advance, really an all-star defensive midfield and back line. They will certainly challenge for second place in this group.
