I have never thought that McDavid had any supposed leadership abilities. Forget about what you hear from Edmonton.

But no reason he should not have been more dominant in the last 2 games. The guy has skill no doubt. If left to just play his game, he would probably be better served.

I get that Oiler dislike is greater than any questions about Peters. And whataboutism has been very much in vogue the last year or two

If McWhatever is as ill suited to lead and contribute to a win as we all are saying, who had any control over which players saw the ice?

Crap leader but one of the premier players in the game. Any coach would lean on him especially in a short tourney. At least when McDavid wasn't producing they gave him new linemates to try and shake it up fast. Most glaring to me was how when they needed him for the PK he stunk.

As for Peters I was more interested in seeing how he ran the bench but even thats taken with a grain of salt given this was a short tournament and filled with players he will never coach. Still I was happy to see him make changes on the fly and attempt to adapt.

This is the thing, hes a good player, nobody is debating that, but is he did not in any way dominate this tournament even against lesser opposition.

He was being leaned on heavily and not really producing much.

So many predators in this game, I wish both teams could lose.

Didn't follow the tourney but one can only assume that the biggest issue if any was the excess of Oilers on the team, especially when put in leadership positions.

You're just fighting against the current when you're set up that way.

McDavid (C)
The Tenderness
Eberle (still maintains the stench)
Nurse

Too much Oiler.

Canada's goaltending was pretty bad as well.

The bottom line is when the Oilers needed Connor he was "sick" or slumping. But when Connor needed the scoring title after the team was out of it, the team did everything they could to get him that title. That points to a real ego problem either by Oilers management or Connor himself.

In the last two games when team Canada needed him to be the best player in the tournament, he was pretty much a dud.

And a 12.5 million dollar a year dud.

Sure you can blame Peters all you want, but any coach is going to depend on his leaders and the elite players on this team to get the job done.

McDavid couldn't do that. When it comes to heavy lifting, he looks flashy, great even, but he's like a porn star with erectile dysfunction

He was a dud in the 2015 memorial cup, he was a dud in last years playoffs and he's a dude in the World Championships in the last two games.

Don't know if anyone's watching, but pretty good hockey in the final. Swiss has lead the game twice, Sweden has evened it up twice. Sweden clearly the better team overall, but it's close enough that it could go either way.

Would be nice to see Switzerland take their first championship, but overall I approve of them getting a medal.

Overall I'm fairly apathetic but I'd love it if Backlund got a Gold, but I'm fine with the Swiss as well. Its a nice story.

It's just a yearly refresh. Win the IIHF summer vacation and you're the best hockey nation in the world.

On paper it's actually a decent squad that the Swiss have. Combine that with good goaltending and maybe it shouldn't be a huge surprise they are going as well as they are. Fair to say they may give the Czechs a run for their money as the best team outside the big 5.
