Yeah, Sportsnet wanted the Royals game last friday (potential clinch) so they traded Apple today's game.

Hmmm....probably guarantees he'll win a Cy Young in the next 2 years, but...also probably for the best as he was a distraction for the Jays.

What a fall from grace for Manoah. I hope he doesn't come back to burn us. Glad it was an NL team.

Whit Merrifield was on Barn Burner earlier this week and said that there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, hinting that the Jays have good reasons for what they have done with Manoah. I really wonder what went down during that offseason after his amazing rookie year.

Manoah's triple A numbers were misleading as his ERA looks good, but mixed in with that was like 9 unearned runs in 38 innings which is really high. His velocity was down to an average of 91 and reports are that his slider was not good at all. I don't know the distribution of the earned runs and how many errors that they're attributed to. But that might indicate that he's having more trouble getting outs than it looks like.

Maybe with a bit of a wakeup call here and a full offseason where he can prepare without rehab he can get back a bit of what he had. But sounds like the Blue Jays felt today that they have 40 other guys they'd rather have than him.

You know...all the baseball shows out there should really devote more time to "who's more deserving of the MVP award, Aaron Judge or Cal Raleigh?" Just hasn't been discussed enough, who cares about all of the playoff races going on right now?

I've always found the media obsession with awards in the MLB and NHL to be really odd.

Manoah was barely able to get 90mph velocity. That isn't going to work nowadays, especially with sketchy command like he has. Also seems like he isn't the best guy to deal with either. Too many red flags and looking at a 2.2 million arb award this off season as well.

The Jays rotation for next year is in shambles though. Obviously have an entire off season to get it up to snuff, but the front office will have some work to do.

Hopefully this Berrios injury was the cause for his dropping velocity and stuff numbers as the season went on, and hopefully it's something that can be fixed this off season. They're going to need him.

1. Gausman
2.
3. Berrios
4. Lauer
5. Yesavage

A crap ton of question marks, that's for sure.

Gausman is getting old, Berrios is finishing the season injured, Lauer is one year removed from being in the KBO and Yesavage is a raw rookie.

Some holes and question marks, but Bassitt & Scherzer (and most likely Bieber) off the books leaves about 45 mil they can throw towards a free agent or two to fill it back up.

You mean the guy who has lost his mojo and is swinging like junk and getting meek outs? That Vladdy?

Especially when a Yankee is involved.

2 years ago when Judge was doing his AL homerun record chase the coverage was insufferable. Daily interviews with the Maris family. Non stop Yankee legends talking about it being the greatest record in sports. And it wasn't even for the MLB record. Just the AL. And here we are 2 years later and Raleigh could very well break it. And nary a peep.

That would have been called a foul ball if it was the other way around.
