Agree to a certain extent. Burke was right about Johnny when he commented on how he allows frustration to get him off his game.
He has to be a lot mentally tougher and more willing to be a team player.

Johnny was a positive difference maker on the PP tonight.

Why?

He moved the puck.

He was a huge factor in quick puck movement and not over handling the puck. In essence, team success became more important than him being the quarterback and “over handling the puck.”

I don’t think the coaches changed the PP strategy.

I believe he bought in to the scheme.

Baby steps but a big change.

The sweetheart deal only lasts for 2 more years. Testing free agency would be tempting for anyone. I'm far from sold that Johnny stays. Obviously its the risk you take but if the team stays inconsistent over the next couple seasons I don't see that great of an incentive for him to stay. I see far more out there tempting him to go elsewhere. For what its worth Eric Francis has said multiple times he believes Johnny is for sure leaving. Again take it for what its worth but hes closer to the team than most of us.

Waiting to the final year is horrendous asset management. You basically either trade him this summer and get back some assets that can make up for a good percentage of his absence or you wait until the final year and
essentially lose him for nothing leaving a massive hole in your team.

While I don't think Hall is the greatest fit or use of spending $10M, he is probably the easiest impact player the team could acquire over the next 2 seasons while Johnny for sure is still here.

How about if Calgary is looking like true contender? Do you punt the season by trading him.

because any team looking to acquire him for the stretch drive isn't moving current assets, but futures.
