Think the point is more that it's the same thing with Man City.

Until they make the finals it's a failure of a Champions League season.

They didn't bring Pep in to win the EPL. They brought him in to get over the hump in Champions League.

So sure at this point it looks like City is ahead of PSG/Chelsea but really until they actually beat Madrid/Barcalona/Bayern and make it to a Champions League final it's not a successful season.

Crazy finish incoming. Of course I just have to get pulled into a meeting. Maybe I should get myself fired?

Dybala is clutch

Had a crazy 93rd minute goal over the weekend to win a huge league game vs Lazio too.

Why would they have lost?

They already beat bayern

And like I said they were the better team in leg 1 for much of it

A semifinal loss would have made A huge difference, it's progress

Juventus themselves probably have no idea how they were able to win this one. Completely lopsided game, Tottenham dominated and then everything went to hell for 3 minutes.

That one is bittersweet for me.

Tottenham and Juventus are my two favourite teams and I really was torn when they were drawn together.

Personally Juventus is a team I have cheered for since my childhood so I am never sad when they win but I really don't think this team is built to win the Champion's League this year.

So I really hoped that Tottenham might take that step this year and get into the Quarter Finals because I think it would have been big for them moving forward and towards keeping Kane/Alli/Eriksen.

Happy for Juventus but sad to see Tottenham choke that one away.

Learning experience but devastating right now

The one complaint spurs fans have with poch is his subs and it showed tonight, he's always late on bringing on attacking options when we are down, llorente should have been on by at least 75 mins

Missed Toby a lot too, Sanchez has been great but toby wouldn't have made the same mistake on the 2nd goal

Yeah, it’s disappointing, but they played well. Got caught twice and Juventus capitalized on both and then just shut everything down. I think that not having Toby hurt because it cost basically both goals in this one and probably one in the away leg. I just think with him back there the line is so much stronger and they just don’t switch off.

Overall though, it was a great effort. They obviously had a much better campaign this year and to lose against Juventus isn’t exactly a train wreck.

The subs are always questionable, as you say. I would have liked to have seen Lucas out there and maybe would have left Dele out there as well. For some reason though, Spurs didn’t seem to have the urgency for the first part of the second half. They were alright, but Juventus looked bad. Those two quick hits galvanized Juventus and that was that.

What mistake and why are you singling him out in particular when there were three or four other players in the area none of which tracked the run?

This was pretty much the City 'B-Squad' albeit, it still should have been good enough to see off Basel.

Bunch of Bums!

He didn't need to step up with higuan, and if he was going to do it he can't let him make the turn

We can agree to disagree but I don't think you're being fair on him. All he was doing was stepping up to the high line the rest of the team was playing and with that you always run the risk of being exposed to the space behind.

It was a good goal but if I had to fault anyone there it would be Trippier for ballwatching.

*edit* Actually I agree. Got my players mixed up.

Yeah, it's just plain ignorant. This is coming from a guy who saw his team fall short in the final and frankly they got outplayed in both games against Spurs this year. Full credit to them, they defended better than us and took their chances. Spurs are still young and will have to learn from that match in particular. I just think it's laughable and in poor taste to come out after and basically give the impression that "we were never worried because we had it all along". Right....I'm sure that the plan all along was to concede a pair of goals at home and then be down 1-0 at Wembley through 60 minutes.

Anyway, it is what it is. I'm disappointed in the outcome, but still proud of the overall performance. All the talk of choking is just plain wrong, so it doesn't really bother me. This was a team that topped the "group of death" when basically no one gave them a chance. Last night we lost our first CL game this season and the loss was against a European giant. I think that loss came in a match-up that few would've put money on Spurs winning in the first place.

It's funny because the media are going out of their way to be kind to Spurs and not label this a choke. Even though it's pretty much the textbook definition of a choke. What else do you call being the clear better team for 165 of 180 minutes (aka 92%) of the tie, and still losing? If it were Arsenal it'd be a choke. If it were Liverpool it'd be a choke. If it were United it'd be a choke. When you were clearly better and yet still found a way to lose...yeah sorry, it's a choke.
