Did you also play the expansion?

I really enjoyed the story as well. The world they built for that was stunning, one of the best pieces of science fiction I've enjoyed. I chased down every single story and collectible there was.

The new one is coming very soon as well!

Nice work on finishing the side stories and getting all the collectibles. I got impatient and wanted to see what happened with Project Zero Dawn and got to about level 48 I think? I didn’t do the frozen wilds dlc…yet!

Frozen Wilds is great - bigger new machine challenges in that separate self contained area. The side stories pieces also fit in nicely and was poignant.

Spoiler!

I'm about half-way through and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The immersion is awesome, I really like the world they've built with this. Can't wait to finish this and Frozen Wilds and then jump right into the sequel.

I can't recommend Dying Light 2 in its current state. This game was released unfinished and is one of the buggiest big releases I have seen (much worse than Cyberpunk). It's a shame because the game is fun but it's currently in a pre-beta state and not ready.

Glad I'm playing through the first one again, hopefully the bugs are fixed by the time I get to #2

This is why I can't understand why anyone pre-orders, or buys day one. With digital it's not like you're ever in danger of not being able to get the game, and it's so common now for games to release in a completely broken state, why take the gamble? I always wait at least a few months for some kind of sale, that way you get a more complete product for cheaper. At the very least wait a week or two to see if the launch version is actually worth the money

The only reason I've pre-ordered Horizon: Forbidden West is because I got a bunch of Amazon gift cards for my birthday so it's not really my money I'm risking. Otherwise I wait until atleast 50% off to buy games. $90 before tax is just too big of a risk.

Yeah the best plan is to probably wait a month at least for a lot of these games unfortunately. You can still play the game but the issues are all over from screen tearing, crashes, extreme loud audio buzzing, messed up weapon effects graphics, screen color turning monochrome, dead zombies that are suspended in the air, etc.

it's really disappointing that players have effectively become beta testers for a lot of developers.

Plus by the time it hits 50%, it's usually re-packaged as a GOTY edition with all of the DLC and updates, so you get the complete package for half the price. That is unless the game hits GamePass or PS+ and you get it for free. My gaming backlog is huge now that I have Gamepass, so I'm never in a rush to buy new releases, and the rewards for being patient are just far too great to ever consider buying something on day 1

Use the amazon cards to buy PS Store cards on Amazon. Plus there seems to be much less risk on first party titles anyway, I'm sure Horizon:FW will be fine and any complaints will not be due to bugs or performance.

That's why 90% of my game purchases are through steam. Actually have a refund policy. PSN, for example, once you've downloaded that game it's yours forever

edit: I know PSN and steam aren't really comparable, just saying I wish more platforms had better refund policies. I'm certainly less bitter about Cyberpunk because I got my money back very easily

I still prefer physical copies for console games (for the bigger titles anyway) so it's hard finding something to buy on PSN. I bought the Director's Cut PS5 upgrade for Ghost of Tsushima this weekend because it was on sale and that was the first thing I've bought in a long time.

I ended up getting a couple of PSN gift cards for Christmas a couple of years ago and I ended up just using it on a year of PS Now that was 25% off at the time.

Might as well, due to the pandemic I've had a hard time using it and I ended up getting kicked out of the office for most of December.
