So if that works and no more oil is coming out, how much will BP's stock go up in a few days?

Good though, if it is actually working.
CNN was broadcasting on it yesterday, and it's on the front page of the NY Times website today... I think the media is still pretty interested.

I think it's already up 39% from it's lowest moment of the crisis.

It is still trading below its 50 day moving average so nothing to get excited about. Once you Cap you still gotta Clean and after you Clean you get Cleaned in court. It is off around 2% today but it is a stock that you can buy and forget about You will end up Filthy rich

Oil has stopped flowing from BP's broken wellhead into the Gulf of Mexico thanks to a new containment cap, the company said Thursday.
Now they will be doing pressure and passive seismic monitoring to make sure that there isn't oil leaking out somewhere else. Good news.

BP really hates Canada don't they? That said, BP Canada is a small pimple in the greater BP family. Shedding BP Canada for them would be like the Flames losing a marginal 4th liner.

They gave up their land in the north, good move imo, we don't need that gas now.

Didn't they report the gulf well was leaking 2 miles away ?

They're saying it's a different well. Supposedly, a small amount of seepage is common with killed wells.

With gas prices the way they are, the BP Canada stuff was likely first on the chopping block.

Regardless, those plays are still relativly small to BP Canada, let alone BP as a whole.

I thought it was oil leaking 2 miles away ? I haven't heard much today, I knew it was methane leaking from the BOP.

And they did stop drilling those relief wells for a time, or so they reported.
