Oil has stopped flowing from BP's broken wellhead into the Gulf of Mexico thanks to a new containment cap, the company said Thursday.

Now they will be doing pressure and passive seismic monitoring to make sure that there isn't oil leaking out somewhere else. Good news.

I heard on the news that its leaking methane gas now and they're worried about the ocean floor.

BP really hates Canada don't they? That said, BP Canada is a small pimple in the greater BP family. Shedding BP Canada for them would be like the Flames losing a marginal 4th liner.

They're saying it's a different well. Supposedly, a small amount of seepage is common with killed wells.

With gas prices the way they are, the BP Canada stuff was likely first on the chopping block.

Regardless, those plays are still relativly small to BP Canada, let alone BP as a whole.
