I just can't believe Hughson is using nicknames like "RNH", really makes it sound like a local broadcast and not national.

I also can't believe that Ron #ronremembers uses names like "Drake", "Ryan", "Connor", and "Zach" to provide analysis and stimulate discussion with the panel; as if everyone watching is on a first name basis with the Oilers and somehow knows.

It is the "Daniel" and "Henrik" syndrome gone mad.

At least the Daniel and Henrik thing makes sense; they both have the same last name (and beard), so you have to differentiate them somehow. Using the Oilers' players first names reminds me of those gossip magazines you see in the checkout line at Safeway. "BRAD'S SHOCKING REVELATION: What He Didn't Tell Jen!"

They mercilessly mocked the oilers and their fans for the entire time I listened. It was great.

Changing of the times. Ever since Rogers bought the NHL rights it's been treated more of business. Ratings were down and they were losing money on their investment and now they are trying to sell the product to Canadians. Rogers badly needs the Oilers to get into the 3rd round so the McDavid hype can at least hold on to the few remaining viewers in the Toronto area that didn't tune out once the Leafs were eliminated. All we have heard all playoffs was the Matthews (until they were eliminated), McDavid, and Karlsson love fest. If you never watched these playoff games or read stat lines you would assume that McDavid and Karlsson have been by far the best players in the playoffs but the truth is that Getzlaf has been the playoff MVP so far and the best defenseman has been Ryan Ellis.

Cuthbert has the PBP call for those of us in the US watching on NBC SN. He's great. Jones and Milbury in the studio is not as great, and I would probably take Maclean and crew over them but maybe that's because I don't get a regular dose

Someone in one of the previous game threads made the comment that US national broadcasts are more slanted towards the US teams than the Canadian broadcast crews are towards the Canadian teams. IMO that's really not the case at all.

Ron is all-in on the Oilers since he made his prediction EDM would win the Cup soon. He realizes his "credibility" is at stake.

Thank God. Last I heard a couple weeks ago, they were pulling for the Oilers and mocking Flames fans for being mad about it, and I literally haven't tuned in since. I'm a regular listener and they kinda lost me there. So they're back to their usual selves now?

I have no memory of this every happening.

Granted my listen is a 20-25 min stretch starting usually around 8:15-8:30.

Was listening to 630 CHED last night after the game, the two hosts were slamming Eberle and said he now is better suited for checking line duties and has lost his place in the top six.

Lord of the Flies up here and I love it.

Putting Eberle on a checking line is about as stupid as putting Velveeta on a peanut butter sandwhich.

The guy is not only soft on the boards, but he quits when it gets too hard for him to find space.

He's one of the guys that the oilers are going to get next to no value for when they have to cut their payroll by 15 to 17 million bucks.

He's killed his value with every game this year.

It was either going into the Ducks series, or after game 1. I came in late as well, it was mid-segment. Sounded like Boomer mentioned his hatred of the Ducks was so strong he was pulling for the Oilers, and the other two guys agreed.

When I came in, Boomer was reading listener texts telling him he can't do that, and he was reading all of them in a mocking, over the top angry voice like everyone was just spitting venom. I was so disgusted with them I haven't tuned in since, I had been a daily listener for two years before that

Yeah, one I decided I'm not being a part of. I decided right there I wasn't listening again until the Oilers were out, figured they'd be singing their praises the rest of the run, like 90% of this city already is. I just can't stomach it. But now I must hear this. I'll check out the pod once they post it, love when they get chirpy about Edmonton. They're so good at it when they want to be

The difference now is that Sportsnet is making every excuse for the Oilers, whereas it seemed like they felt the Flames deserved it.

Eberle on a checking line is going to be about as effective as when Treliving sent Gaudreau in as the rushing forward on a dump and chase.
