Sounds like the Flames really did take an offer way above anything else on the table.

The impression I got from Treliving after the trade was made was that nobody else was offering above a 4th.

Which would make sense because recent history showed that's roughly the value, with Colborne having higher value last offseason than Sven does this coming season.
More upside as a player.
A 2nd round pick is an absolute home run. This year's Reto Berra trade.

I got the same impression. I have a vision of Treliving jerseying Benning and absconding with his 2nd rounder whilst delivering Bieksa-like punches to his unsuspecting opponent.

53rd overall that will move up one spot for every team who makes the conference finals that were below the Canucks in league standings.

To me, he never looked the same after.
I hate the way his attitude appeared to change, but maybe one gets pretty desperate/frustrated when you are no longer able to play like you did before after someone runs your head into the boards. Glad we got something for him. Too bad he didn't pan out to what we hoped for.
|
You know - I completely missed this (not out of the realm of reality given my location and how little I hear from the tournament without having to hunt for info) or just forgot. Sucks if it was the cause.
Don't wish him ill but since he's not ours now happy with salvaging something out of him.

It still is depending on how the playoffs go.
right now it's #53, but if Calgary Detroit Minnesota and either the Isles/Washington some how make the conference finals then that # will drop by 1 per team.
In terms of the draft, the best case scenario would be Detroit, NYI, Anaheim and Minnesota being the last 4 teams standing.

I forget if someone else posted this here or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if Weisbrod had something to do with getting Baertschi. He likely thought it would be a "steal", and it's looking less and less likely to be so.

Utica leads Grand Rapids 3-0 and Baertschi has all 3 goals so far.

It's a discussion board.
Whether you like it or not, the success/failures of Sven in the next couple years will be a big topic of discussion for Flames fans.
Edit- but I do agree, a hat trick in one game is questionable for a bump.

The part you're missing is that the poster who bumped the thread is an annoying Canucks fan.

Exactly.
A Canucks fan bumping a thread about a Canucks prospect on a Flames board? It's a stupid move by a poster known to troll.
Never heard an update when he had 4 points in his previous 9 games.

Oh I'm aware 'Hockey' is a Canucks fan. Hopefully he doesn't fly down to Utica to riot when the Comets get bumped from the playoffs!

Or when he was completely invisible when he got his big chance on the big stage.
