This is an early warning for everyone. Please do not discuss any rumors about the players here. For many reasons, we don't want that chatter associated with the board. All speculation will be deleted immediately and further repercussions with infractions or banning are possible.

Zuccarello is 5'7... Are we building a team of midgets?

If NYR wanted a replacement for zuccarello for their playoff run would glencross be a fit? I have no idea the value of RFA Hagelin.

Glencross + Sven + 3rd

Hagelin + Zuccarello

I've been told in the past my analysis of value is way off. Flame away
Hagelin won't move. If zuccarello moves IT will be a Callahan for St. Louis kind of deal that is win now avid less future oriented.

Zuccarello would be a good pickup.

I still think Carolina is the perfect match for Calgary.
-Brad wants to take on bad contracts
-Eastern team
-Bottom 5 team
-Plenty of young players.

If the Flames could aqquire both Semin and Ward's contracts then IMO there would be serious compensation coming back.

Alexander Semin RW- $7,000,000/ 3 years left
Cam Ward G- $6,300,000/ 2 years left
The idea would be getting both and retaining the max 50% on Semin's contract, because let's be honest no one want him. Cam Ward's contrat would also be retained by 50%

Total Cap Hit: $6,650,000 (Semin- $3,500,000 Ward $3,150,000)

Semin is worthless, but if another team sees him as a good playoff player addition and we can retain and get a 7th or even a no name AHL player at the deadline then fine.

Ward is still a good goalie and IMO an older Deven Dubnyk. Stuck on a crappy team expected to play amazing, and he does! But his team is . If we can retain and flip Cam Ward for anything less than a 3rd take it.

The real prize we would be going for is the compensation. So three pieces I could see Calgary aiming for:
-Ellias Lindholm- C/RW Has a RH shot and was picked right before Monahan. Given that info, he might be "untouchable" but who knows in this type of deal.

-Justin Faulk- D 22 year old with a RH shot but again he may be hard to get as he will be a stud of a defenseman.

- Carolina's 2015 1st round pick- The only way this would happen is if Calgary's first is going back, plus way more.

It's a major risk taking on either of those contracts, let alone both, but I think one of those three above would compensate nicely.

Sure we could trade him for another toxic asset, but that wasn't my point. He is not going to be put into a deal as if he has actual value, like a team wanting depth for the playoffs or reuniting him with old teammates. Maybe if we retain 50% we could make him go away for nothing I suppose. But why would a GM want him after what he's shown this year? He's a total disaster on the backend...

3 more days til deadline. I don't think the Flames will be busy at all. They might make 2-3 trades including Glencross' deal but nothing major.

Not sure I agree with some that Flames pick up a bad contract like Semin, Ward or Richards. We don't want to get stuck with their contract next season or after. I would rather have the Flames stick to their rebuilding plan. We are on the 2nd year rebuilding and they are doing a great job giving the young guys chances to show. Having those bad contract players will take a spot on our 50 contracts limit. So it means some of the young guys that needs a contract might be let go.

As far as the NHL trade deadline is concerned, I got the feeling that the Oilers will get a decent or good return on D Jeff Petry unless McT is stupid enough to give him away. He is one of the top 10 sought-after player for trade and he is a defenseman. I wouldn't be surprised that the Oilers get a first or second round rounder for him. Personally I think Oilers should only get a 3rd rounder or a 4th rounder but GM tends to overpay during this time especially for a D-men.

Petry will be healthy scratched tonight:

Mark Spector @SportsnetSpec
Petry will be a healthy scratch tonight in what would have been his last game as an Oiler.

NHL Trade Deadline: 10 Prospects to Dangle

Note: Los Angeles Kings GM Dean Lombardi beat me to the punch in already dealing 2014 2nd round Roland McKeown – he was a part of my original top 10 for this article."

"How many, if any of the above prospects will get dealt on or leading up to the trade deadline or will we simply continue to see a multitude of draft picks moved?"

Seems like 2nd rnd picks the biggest commodity...

Chicago has a bunch of prospects (especially D) knocking on the door or about to. I don't think we need a forward prospect knocking on the door but dahlbeck, johns, van riemsdyk or pokka.

You're asking for their equivalent of Monahan and Brodie. I think Faulk and Lindholm would be considered untouchables. And considering they're probably finishing to pick 4th overall in a really good draft, the 1st rounder is off the table too.

I agree. Why would Carolina even consider trading these two guys? These guys are good start for the rebuild. Then they will get another decent picks in the upcoming draft.

Every team has a bunch of prospects knocking on the door. That's PR, marketing, and getting friendly with the media so they pump the organizational tires.

(not picking on you savardandjokinen)

We went from "cupboard is bare" under Sutter to "How can we dare to trade Holland" when Feaster went on a media friendly blitz. This is the same player who couldn't even crack the "cupboard is bare" description, then was allegedly a top prospect going to the habs.

Yeah, even with the rumors I don't know why Chicago would trade him. This is likely they're last year as legitimate contenders before they're in serious cap trouble next year. Sharp will be moved at the draft IMO.
