If he's a 40 point guy at the NHL level, I'd consider that a victory.

Haha, don' think the Gretzky quip was necessary. But the hype is not unjustified. Kid is pure gold in college. He is owning that level of hockey.
If you don't want to be excited about it, cool beans. But it really is fair for us fans to be darned excited about him coming to the Flames and what he is doing right now.

There's a lot of anticipation but a lot of posters think a year in the AHL would be good.

I think he'll need at least a season and a half in the AHL before becoming an NHL player but I am very excited to finally see him in a Flames jersey for a stretch this season. Having anticipation doesn't mean you don't know it still might be a long road to the NHL.

The kid's resume is completely stacked, including tying Paul Kariya's 31-game point record, has won at every level, dominated the WJC's, and we can't get excited?
Every time this kid has the odds stacked against him, he comes and proves them wrong. Every time.
His attitude is completely self-less as well. A consummate team player.
No one is expecting the second coming of Gretzky; but you have to understand, it's not us hyping him up, it's Gaudreau hyping himself up.

He is our best prospect. He deserves the hype due to his play, and he deserves the pressure. He's an elite player, its now up to him to prove he can do it at the next level.

So if Boston lose tonight, does that mean Gaudreau could sign within the next few days possibly?

Yes.
Gaudreau could still decide to go back for his 4th year as a senior but Arnold will be done.

I'm of the mindset that he's more likely to go pro if they win it all again.
I'm also of the mindset that he's probably signing anyway.

Accept it or not, I really feel Boston College's win today will end up being the best thing that could have happened for Johnny Gaudreau.
Seriously... signing a contract a playing 5-6 games for the Flames this year is not going to do any serious damage to the guy. He could play in the AHL next year if that's where he's better suited.

That could be taken any number of ways. I don't know what his meaning is, but I agree that BC winning today was best for Johnny, and probably best for the Flames.
Going to the Frozen Four with Hayes and Arnold will be the fitting end for all three of them to walk away from the NCAA, win or lose, with no regrets. His whole team will be with him when he wins the Hobey Baker and there will be absolutely no question whether he should go back for one last year.
I want to see him in Calgary ASAP, but six meaningless games at the end of the season aren't going to make a difference. There's a good chance the Flames would have given him a leave to go to the Hobey Baker ceremony even if he was a Flame, so we likely wouldn't have seen him play at home anyway.

April 10th is now the earliest BC can be eliminated. The NCAA finals is on the 12th.
Flames play games on 11th and 13th.
Unlikely Gaudreau plays a game this year if BC makes the finals.
