Yeah it's still pretty well the best show on this time of year. It's not as good as season one but I'm enjoying it.
Hannibal is by far and away my favorite show on right now, but I understand it's not for everyone.
I'd say I'm enjoying Halt and Catch Fire more too though.
As far as the last episode went, the whole party scene really bugged me. Not because of the subject material, just because it seemed disjointed and not entirely accurate. The score was playing way too loud over the top of the scene and was as annoying as unnecessarily 'dramatic'. Bezzedries reaction to the drug she took seemed to make no sense for two reasons. One, if it really was ecstacy it wouldn't make you react like that, and two, even if it was some cocktail disguised as E her reaction still didn't come close to the other girls.
I'd have to watch it again to pick out other parts, it's been a week now. I just know it left me feeling like they really messed up. It was obviously supposed to be a big scene, a crescendo of sorts, and I just felt let down.
The pacing has been weird this season, but this episode revved it up to about 200 mph. I expect a blaze of glory next week, and a pretty significant body count. It'll be interesting to see if anyone makes it out unscathed.
It's now officially become the opposite of last year (1-4 were great, tailed off after it left the past)
Ever since mid episode 4 it's been really building, tonight's whole episode was tense the entire time, lots of complaining about Vince Vaughn this year but I thought he was great tonight
finale is 90 minutes too

Vince Vaughn is pretty good when violence is involved in the scene. He has just had zero chemistry with his wife
It helps that the dude is just so tall. It is easy to buy into him being physically intimidating - because he is. It is easy to believe that he can tune someone up if he chooses too.
I've enjoyed the season start to finish, but agree that it is getting better as it nears the end.
I wish I cared enough about this season to go back and figure out who killed Paul and why, or who the black guy Paul met with was (beyond some ex-cop), or how all the players relate given the explanations we're finally getting.
But I don't.
I'll just watch the finale to get as much resolution out of it as I can, and move on to next season (?) hoping that it bounces back.
They were both big players in the Vinci PD who were in all the meetings with the mayor and Ray early in the season. The black guy was the Police Chief and the guy who shot him was Ray's boss (I believe).

They really haven't done a good job of setting the story up to this point, but it all sort of makes sense now
- There was a robbery of blue diamonds in the 1992 riots by the cops. The diamond owners were murdered by the cops (Caspere, Burris, Dixon, Holloway).
- The robbery left two orphans; they are the ones seeking revenge here. One has been revealed as Caspere's secretary from episode 2. The other is unknown. They killed Caspere and likely are trying to get the others
- I don't think Caspere was blackmailing anyone. The Tasha girl was and she got carved up in the cabin for doing so.
- The other cops tried to use the Caspere murder to hide their involvement in the 92 robbery.
- Vince Vaughn's character is thus sort of meaningless to the central story. His involvement is incidental, he didn't kill Caspere and neither did any of his enemies.
The writing was kind of convoluted to get to this point but it does sort of work.

Even though I'm enjoying this season I have to admit I never picked up on any of that. Thanks!
The story is truly convoluted.

This helped me massively. It's an up to date summary and explanation of everything that is happening. It includes some speculation to what might happen, so don't read this if you don't want to read speculation.

Saved for reading after Sundays episode....
And I agree... little too much going on and doesn't all make sense hah.
This has been a terrible season. Plot so muddied it's almost impossible to follow, very weak acting from Vaughn and Kitch, some of the corniest dialog I've ever heard in a drama, and just an air of pretentiousness around the whole show with how serious it takes itself despite everything. The first season left me wanting more, but this one has me not even caring if they do a third one

I think they mentioned there was a male and female orphan, so unless "Laura" is also "Tasha", I think the other orphan will be revealed Sunday. Perhaps we see Velcoro and Ani teaming up with the orphans seeing as they at this point have no way out.
I just hope somehow they can work the annoying acoustic guitar lady into the finale in a meaningful way.
