Buium and Parekh don't win championships while playing 25-30 minutes a night without being at least somewhat passable in their own end.

Sens cap issues are exactly that....theirs.
Plus if the Flames retain 3M on Markstrom instead, (Forsberg can come back if needed) then the Sens are only paying 7M a year on the position....hardly a problem.
If they insist on JK being a part of the return then they can add Shane Pinto as well.
All this may be moot anyhow because Markstrom is likely only willing to go to teams he deems as good enough to contend for a SC, and it would be a reach to see the Sens in that light.

Cap issues are not as big an issue during the offseason. Teams can go over by 10% plus I think there’s been plenty of chatter that the Sens have other irons in the fire to at least move one of Chabot or Chychrun. Factor in any other moves they might want to make and I don’t think the cap is going to be too great a hindrance here. Bear in mind it sounds like it’s the Senators reaching out to the Flames base on Friedman’s comments, not the other way around.

Great....in that case no Korpisalo in return nor any retention is needed.

What about this scenario?
To BUF: Anderson & Mangiapane
To CGY: 11th pick & one of Savoie/Ostlund
I love Anderson, but agree with many here that his prime will be gone by the time we are competitive again. We don’t have space for Mangiapane anymore.
Why does Buffalo entertain this? Anderson gives them a RD to go with their trifecta of Dahlin, Power & Byram and perhaps the best D core in the league for the next couple years. Mangiapane had chemistry with Cozens at the World Champs, and Cozens (after a poor season) needs to have a good year. BUF, like Ottawa and NJD, need to take a significant step forward this season. They do not have any more space for their prospects, and need to trade the future for the present. Calgary is the opposite.

I've liked the idea of Anderson to Buffalo for 11 for a while. At this point, Mangiapane doesn't have a ton of value imo so I wouldn't be asking for too much for him. I know they an always flip him qt the deadline, but I'd like to give up his roster spot to some young players or sign a 1 year deal with a UFA and try to flip them.

If anything comes of the rumor of Chabot coming to Calgary in a Markstrom deal I think you do this deal. I like Ras but an opportunity to land a really good prospect and high draft pick is too good to pass. Would rather have Kulich over Savoie or Ostlund however.

Rhett on Barnburner mentioned that Mangiapane's name has come up around Buffalo circles.

Flames Nation trade idea with Vegas
Potential Trade Package:
To Calgary: Nic Hague, Pavel Dorofeyev
To Vegas: 2024 1st Round Pick (VAN), 2024 3rd Round Pick (VGK), Yan Kuznetsov
Vegas deals because of cap issues and Flames looking for players like Sharangovich
