So far, I've been told of at least eight teams that have expressed legit interest in Patrick Sharp. Some expected, some less so. #Blackhawks

I've heard stories about Hudler and he sounds like a hilarious fun loving guy. Holland and Babcock probably couldn't handle how he actually had a personality and didn't live and breathe hockey

Ahh the offseason, where Leaf fans talk about how great their players are and Edm fans trash talk about how they are a playoff team and are going to own us. I love the summer but December is nice also when those 2 fanbases crawl back into their holes.

Burke in that interview talking about how Treliving is a good guy and all, but when it comes to business, he won't hesitate to "skin a guy" if he gets a chance.
Well, I don't think Bergevin is an idiot or anything, but with the rumors floating around out there that Galchenyuk is at odds with the Habs, here's to hoping "Tree" can skin his first GM and pull a Seguin V2.0

That's a fine signature post right there. Both franchises are a mess. They wish their team was as good as ours.
I've got a feeling Flames are going to have another stellar draft. Even if the Flames make no trades this week, it will be a lot of fun.
But I think some roster players move for picks.

but lets take a good look at the reality of the situation here. There is a reason why Jiri Hudler was a 3rd liner on the Red Wings. There is a reason why the Wings chose not to prioritize him as an asset and let him go. There is a reason why Hudler has been passed over for the Czech team numerous times. There is a reason why, when he hit free agency, he signed with the then lowly Flames (not a lot of guys were eager to sign with a losing fanchise smack dab in the Canadian prairie ie pretty freaking low on the destination chart).
but things have gone well for Hudler here, and good on him. but smoke and mirrors aside Hudler is not a legitimate top line player on a contending team. Top six, maybe. He's a nice piece, but that's about it.
Kessel on the other hand is 4 years younger, taller, bigger, more dangerous, has better counting stats, and despite the fact he plays for the leafs (and therefore sucks in the eyes of some) is somehow precieved to be of lesser value. Kessel just scored 25 on one of the worst teams in the league with Tyler Bozak as his center on an 'off' year. Hudler has scored more than 25 once. What's Kessel going to do on a legitmate top line with a high end play maker? 50 goals 90 pts?
I don't think 'desperate' is the appropriate word regarding the leafs desire to trade Kessel. They're interested in trading him because the assets he can fetch the leafs at this point in time is more valuble to this particular team right now and moving forward. No different than Iginla was to the Flames. Only difference is the Flames held on to Iggy 2-3 years longer than they should have for a variety of reasons.
The Flames should be shopping Hudler and try to cash in on his success. But the Leafs will get more for their asset than the Flames will. A lot more.

Dude this entire subject is over your head if you don't understand the implications of Kessel's contract on his value.

I would expect that the Leafs should end up with 3 picks in the top ten after trading Dion and Phil, should have some really good prospects coming their way as well.......
I will be shocked if they get a late round first for either one of them. In my mind Moneyhands isn't the player he is right now if he didn't have Hudler mentoring him/ living with him. His impact on the young guys is worth more than Kessels points, maybe someone can remind me who Kessel took under his wing this season.

Sarcastic in the first paragraph.
Hudler has more value than Kessel for obvious reasons. If it we were to trade just for Kessel I wouldn't be happy if it was for more than a 2nd. That's the value that I give him with his cap hit, TOfan thinks otherwise and we will see what happens. Too many teams are in cap hell to be taking a contract like that on, that's why the trade that I said earlier makes sense in my mind.

After reading what is going on with Galchenyuk it sounds like he could be on his way out in Montreal. What would it cost the Flames? Porier + 15? Is that too much, too little?
He is a big body that hasn't been effective playing C but that is not a huge need for Calgary and he could easily stay on the wing here

That's a lot of prospect depth to be giving up. We are best staying the course for the time being. We had an amazing year. Goal is to have that amazing year over and over again.
Too soon to be trading for immediate fixes. Not to mention Montreal probably does not accept that offer. They will want more.

Fair enough but giving up 2 young players for 1 is not that bad. I agree if they want more we can't really afford it. Galchenyuk is only 21

That's a lot to give up for a guy who just fired his agent for telling him to suck it up. The guy is throwing a fit for his limited ice time, so under our system of earned and never given this guy would be in trouble.
Poirier is going to be a beauty IMHO.

Just saw the "trade boards" on tsn. 11 players and the Coyotes 3rd round pick listed...thought that was very strange. Just randomness/tsn mistake or is there a reason that single pick was listed? Being shopped anymore than the other 210 picks in the draft?

FWIW, I've seen Habs fans absolutely puzzled about why it is that somebody like Desharnais gets top line and PP minutes time after time despite producing almost literally nothing versus Galchenyuk having a the potential to grow into the top 6 center that the Habs are looking for but constantly bring shafted as a bottom 6 winger.

I'm sure they mean 3rd overall.

It does say No. 3 pick, and then lists Edmonton's No. 16 pick as being in play. We can infer that since the Oilers 16th round pick is not in play, and rounds are not mentioned on the "trade board", that the third and 16th overall picks are the first round picks of the Coyotes and Oilers, respectively.
