Jagr has been playing professional hockey for 27 years, 10 league teams (including Europe), and his national team probably a dozen times or more. He has probably played for more than 20 coaches.
And he plays the position with the least amount of defensive responsibility.
As far as being able to play goes, Gulutzan can just send him out there and tell him to do Jagr things.
The only issue is conditioning.

Where is Jagr coming in from? Jet lag a factor? If not, play him in Edmonton!

That inferiority complex is seeping through their pores.
Oiler fans all manage to sound like 12 year olds whenever the Flames do anything, and try so hard to shrug it off that it comes off as petty/insecure. It's hilarious.
Being so easily frazzled, it's hard to believe they're that comfortable with their team's situation when it comes down to it. Flames are doing everything the Oilers should be. Treliving is putting together a complete team full of reasonable to good value contracts. Oilers are banking on a few select players carrying the rest of the team, and at some very hefty price tags.
I've heard there's also been a lot of nerves about the defense showing up there over the preseason. Apparently that bottom 3 on the blue line is not inspiring confidence after all (not surprisingly).
Anwyays, bring on JJ!

I know they are different players but:
Jagr/45yrs/$1mil + bonuses >>>> Lucic/29yrs/$6mil
Ha ha, stupid Oilers

Wondering if we could just plug him in on the 4th line for a night, then ease him into the 3rd line for a few practices leading up to the home opener?
If anything to steal some of the spotlight from McPimples on the broadcast. Make it slightly more palatable for fans outside of YEG.

For $2 million, he can take games off as he sees fit. But he's missed a total of 8 games in the past four seasons combined, so that's probably not an issue, and depending on where he plays he won't have to deal with tough minutes for this team.

JJ better wear earplugs to the first home game. He’s going to get a hell of a welcome.
Heck, he did as a visiting player.

I think he's going to love playing in a Canadian market. It'll drive him and it'll spark even more fan base enthusiasm.
The cool thing I can forsee is a lot of the non Flames hockey fans in the city may check out more local games given that any fan of hockey will be inclined to see him play.

Sitting here in Las Vegas...
in the middle of all the craziness I read Jagr is a flame. I got to smile today!
So yea. Between all the crazy stuff here in Las Vegas this was the one thing that made me smile.
We are a much better team than we were yesterday.

Good thing Jagr's not in town today, he may not have signed seeing the kind of crap weather we're having.

The absolute worst case scenario is that Jagr's ability to play falls off a cliff and we're stuck with a 1m caphit for an attempted top 9 fit.
It's a shame that we're going to be stuck with such a massive problem and have our hands tied for the rest of the se- oh wait.

Is he still in the Czech Republic? I would assume it's around a 12-14 hours flight from Prague to YYC. It's 9:30 at night over there right now, so if you assume he's getting his sh*t together tonight/tomorrow and flying out tomorrow morning (flights are 10:45 or 11:45 AM, 3:45 AM our time), he's not here until tomorrow evening.
I don't think that's enough time to get in, get settled, practise, and get enough rest for a Wednesday night game. Maybe but I doubt it.
I would bet he doesn't play until Saturday, which will be just fine. Press conferences, practises, media build up to the home opener, and then the crowd goes bonkers welcoming him to the city.
Guy is an absolute legend. It's going to be such a treat to see him 41 times at home this year (and hopefully more!!).
